Alpha Denzel was annoyed to be woken from sleep with such news. Looking at the time, he had slept for exactly three hours.
’Let him in. He knows his way to the pack house,’ he replied through mindlink. The guards at the gate of the pack house had more to say.
’He came with twenty bodyguards.’
Alpha Denzel scoffed before responding through mindlink. ’All the better.’
He ended the mindlink and looking at the woman in his arms, he tried to move gently away but she still woke up.
"Is it time for training yet?" Valerie’s eyes were groggy from sleep but with her wolfy abilities, she was so excited for training.
"It is, but I guess we might be late," Alpha Denzel said with mixed feelings. Valerie was suddenly uncomfortable at the remembrance of Alpha Kendrick.
Denzel was already putting on his training attire and after contemplating for a while, she asked seriously.
"Should I come with you?"
Alpha Denzel did not answer immediately. What if it was another seducing spirit? With Astrid not completely in charge of Valerie, what if she loses control?
"No. Just dress up and stay indoors for now."
Valerie did not argue, got off the bed, and began to dress up. Alpha Denzel noticed her sullen look after he finished dressing up in his training attire and pulled her into his embrace.
"You must not allow anyone to mess with your mind, okay?" Before Valerie could respond, he took her lips ferociously before going to the bathroom.
She had no idea what their intimacy caused him every time. After a few minutes, he came out looking refreshed. After staring at her once more with mixed feelings, he opened the door.
At the same time, the door to Alessia’s room opened as well. Godic was the first to come out, and seeing Alpha Denzel, he was slightly embarrassed.
"Good morning..." he hesitated a little, as if thinking of how to address him. "Denzel."
Alpha Denzel chuckled. It was clear that Godic was still shy of him. "Good morning, Godic. Did you sleep well? I see you marked each other."
Alpha Denzel tried to loosen the atmosphere by picking on the mark on Godic’s neck, which worked, but before Denzel could respond, that sweet feminine voice rang behind him.
"Denzel, good morning. Is Valerie in there?" Alessia asked, beaming with smiles. Alpha Denzel smiled back and stared lovingly at her.
"Where else could she be? Kendrick is here." His expression changed with his words. Alpha Denzel could not stand anyone having an interest in his woman.
The only thing the person could inherit from it was death.
"Do you want me to go meet him?" Alessia asked with interest. Alpha Denzel refused. The last time, he was unable to move, so he tasked her with the job, but it was different this time.
"I can take care of it. You two should go for training."
For some reason, Alessia refused. "I would mindlink Burke to start. I don’t want to miss the show."
Pitching it from that angle, Alpha Denzel could not deny her. She was just too sneaky. "Then be the one to receive him."
Alpha Denzel looked around carefully, but everywhere was neat and tidy with no traces of the events of last night. The living room was as good as new, meaning that Burke had done a good job.
Alessia smirked as Alpha Denzel went back inside. Alessia went to meet Alpha Kendrick at the entrance with Godic.
She already learned a lot from her brother since the last time, so she adopted a similar strategy. "Welcome, Alpha Kendrick. I can let you in without your warriors," she said directly, excited by the anger in his eyes.
Godic was quite surprised by how daring Alessia was. Was it because she shared the same blood as Alpha Denzel, or did she pick his qualities by the time spent with him?
"I want my chief warrior to come with me," Alpha Kendrick insisted, not trusting Alessia and the man beside her. The only person he was eager to see was Valerie.
"Your beta, yes, but warrior, no," Alessia replied, but seeing his contorted face, she grudgingly asked, "Why? Are you afraid? Don’t worry. We don’t bite."
A smug smile tugged at the corner of her lips, making Alpha Kendrick even more uncomfortable.
"Beta Alessia, you are so cocky, and who is this man?" He lifted his chin in Godic’s direction. Godic took the words from Alessia’s mouth.
"Alpha Kendrick, do you really not know me? I used to be Alpha Denzel’s head warrior before I was moved to take care of other things."
The mention of a warrior filled Alpha Kendrick’s eyes with resentment. He thought Godic was some new Alpha or something.
The gentleman had the physique and personality of an Alpha. "Oh, I remember you, but since you are also just a warrior, you should not be let in."
Godic let out a bitter smile, wishing to be in the ring with Alpha Kendrick. "Well, he is also the Alpha’s brother-in-law." Alessia turned her head to the side proudly, revealing her mark.
Alpha Kendrick’s gaze dulled. "I guess I don’t have a choice. You could have just allowed Valerie to come and see me. I would leave instantly."
Alessia chuckled at the mention of Valerie. "You look hungry. I will make you breakfast, but you have to buy food for your warriors. They are not my responsibility," she clarified.
Alpha Kendrick did not like the way his warriors were being treated.
"Don’t you have maids? If you want, I can pay for their meals," he spoke in annoyance. Alessia calmly replied with Godic blocking the way.
"Well, I came to meet you around the same time yesterday. You did not tell me you would be coming with them. Per pack rules, they would have to fend for themselves. Give them the money to check some restaurants around."
Alpha Kendrick did not like that arrangement, but Godic recalled something and spoke, worsening the situation.
"Since when did you start eating before training?" Godic asked as a reminder. Alessia smiled apologetically. Last night had blurred her mind a little.
"Sorry. No need for food because it’s training time. I would ask the servants to prepare lunch by the time training is over." She pulled Godic from the doorway, and Alpha Kendrick entered alone, regretting not bringing his beta, Ludwig, along.
"I am not interested in your training and you can as well forget about the food. Just let me see Luna Valerie."
Alessia mindlinked Denzel. ’He wants to see Valerie.’ She expected to see Denzel when the door opened, but it was Valerie herself.
As she began to descend the stairs with Alpha Denzel by her side, her eyes met that of Alpha Kendrick, and Astrid’s voice blended with hers.
’MATE.’
