"Where are you?" Alpha Denzel mindlinked back, Burke responded. "Close to the woods around the cottage."
Alpha Denzel stared at Raven and smiled after ending the mindlink. "You have a powerful wolf. Go home and change. Alice will come and get you."
Slowly, he was beginning to accept reality and was genuinely happy for her. Raven would make a great Luna with all the skills she had acquired at the Evergreen pack.
She shared her knowledge of herbs and received combat skills in return, as well as wisdom in managing a pack because she was always around the leaders of the pack.
With all these skills combined with her Luna wolf, she was going to be a great asset to the Black Fur Pack, making it one of the strongest contenders among all packs.
Already, the finances of the pack were now buoyant, and everything about it had been transformed.
As such, Alpha Denzel was convinced that Raven would be able to protect herself and her pack. That way, he would also not be too worried about her.
Raven saw that Alpha Denzel was in a hurry, most probably because of the mindlink, and did not stop him.
"Yes, Alpha," she reluctantly agreed, though there was so much she wanted to tell him, beginning with the fact that she did not want to be a Luna of another pack.
Alpha Denzel arrived to see Ray shivering. It was clear that he had overstayed his first shift and was suffering its effects.
"Why did you let him stay for so long in his first shift?" Alpha Denzel asked, slightly upset.
He also realized that the emergency cloth Ray wore was not enough, so he removed his shirt and quickly wore it for him, telling Burke, "Remove yours."
Burke immediately complied while apologizing. "I’m sorry, Alpha. I was too shocked and wanted you to come and see his wolf."
Staying too long in one’s wolf form for the first time after a shift could result in the person becoming sick.
Alpha Denzel’s attention was still on Ray. "Are you feeling better?"
Ray was wearing all the clothes given but was still shivering, so Alpha closed in on him, pulling him close to his body to share his warmth.
When Burke saw this, he was amazed and equally pressed his body against theirs. It was not long before Ray began to sweat from the heat.
"I feel better. Thank you, Alpha."
Alpha Denzel and Burke pulled away before he asked Burke, "So, tell me the problem now."
"Alpha, Ray has an Alpha wolf."
Alpha Denzel was speechless. He was going to lose Ray too. Nevertheless, it dawned on him that this was the payment of the moon goddess for the injustice their father suffered when he was banished from his pack.
Well, before Ray would leave, he must find his mate, which had not happened, so he still had some time to spend at the Evergreen pack.
"Alright, he shall begin Alpha training soon."
Ray’s mate might either be an Alpha’s daughter who had no brother to take over the pack, or a young Luna who must have lost her Alpha in a war.
No matter what form it was going to take, Alpha Denzel knew that somebody must learn how to use the herbs, and the only name which came to mind was Alice.
With her golden wolf, she would be able to learn very well and blend the knowledge with her powers.
Ray and Burke were shocked. Most Alphas would feel threatened if his pack member had an Alpha wolf, but to Alpha Denzel, it only made him greater.
How beautiful it would be to have Alphas he trained being loyal to him? That would only increase the number of Alphas he could trust or count on when the need arose.
Ray thought he was going to get banished. "Alpha, you aren’t going to banish me?"
"For what?" Alpha Denzel frowned a little. "You don’t determine your wolf, and it’s evident that you will be leaving after finding your mate."
Ray did not seem happy with the last part, asking curiously. "But what if I don’t want to leave? Can the moon goddess change my wolf?"
He loved the Evergreen pack so much, but Alpha Denzel had news for him.
"Trust the moon goddess, Ray. Everything you learn is for the future. There must be a pack out there without an Alpha and might be needing someone as great, honest, strong, and resilient as you. Be proud of who you are."
Ray smiled, surprised that Alpha Denzel did not support his wanting to stay. "Yes, Alpha. Thank you very much."
As the three walked back, Alpha Denzel remembered something and said to him, "Run home and change. Then you can meet us at the training arena."
Ray obeyed without another question, and reaching home, he was stunned to see his sister. "Raven, you look like a princess, just as you always wanted."
There were joyful tears in Raven’s eyes. "You should get dressed too. Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie sent these to us."
Ray saw the tuxedo on the sofa and without a word, he picked it up and ran to his room to shower before putting it on.
"We must wait for your brother," Alice said to Raven, forcing her spirits up.
She had been waiting for them to deliver and ensure they wore the outfits prepared for them by the Alpha and Luna.
When Ray stepped out, both Alice and Raven’s jaws dropped. "Now you look like a real-life prince," Raven said. Ray laughed as he remembered something and asked,
"How did your first shift go?"
Raven sighed and glanced at Alice. "It went well, but I got a Luna wolf. I still want to discuss with Alpha Denzel if I could change it. I just want to be here."
Alice was happy for her wolf, but Ray shook his head. "He won’t let you change it. I tried."
"What kind of wolf do you have?" Raven asked with interest, her twin brother replied.
"An Alpha wolf."
Alice lost all hope but forced a smile. "Before you leave, teach me about herbs. I will be very interested to learn, but for now, let’s not miss the main event."
The three went to the training arena, and as soon as Raven reached there and saw the man her wolf was so untamed about, she did not know whether to laugh or cry.
