Chaos brewed at the Night Shade Pack. "What do you mean you don’t know where Troy and the human girl have gone?" Alpha Conrad asked his head guard, appearing upset. Confusion clouded the mind of the head guard, causing him to stammer.

"I... I swear, Alpha, we didn’t hear anything suspicious. The only thing I found was his shattered phone." He handed the phone over to Alpha Conrad, who frowned slightly before asking again,

"Do you think he was kidnapped?"

"I was afraid to tell you, but that is what the guard at the gate said when I returned from my break. He mentioned that before he was knocked unconscious, he saw two men in black."

Alpha Conrad’s heart raced at the mention of men in black, recalling the incident with the Yellow Stone Pack after Valerie’s humiliation during the Alpha’s conference.

"Don’t tell me it has to do with the same people who attacked the Yellow Stone Pack.

That attack involved Luna Valerie, and only the attackers were eliminated.

What does it have to do with us?" He expressed his fear.

It would be easier if he knew the culprits, but the lack of information was slowly eating away at him.

"I don’t know, Alpha," his head guard helplessly replied. Alpha Conrad pondered for a moment. The human girl was with him because of Kailani, so this might be related to her.

"It’s alright. I will get to the bottom of this, but first, get Kailani on the line."

The head warrior hesitated since the human girl was not there as usual bait. "Alpha, she will ask to speak to the human girl," he expressed his concern. Alpha Conrad was far from afraid and responded,

"Nobody must know that Beta Troy and the human girl have disappeared. I know what to do."

The head guard couldn’t help but worry, thinking about what happened to Alpha Tristan and Luna Scarlet. He feared that something similar might happen to them, especially since his Alpha was showing interest in Luna Valerie.

"Alpha, if it involves Luna Valerie, would you give her up for the sake of the pack? She seems to bring trouble, and we were attacked the moment you expressed interest in her."

Calm words in the midst of turmoil ignited rage in Alpha Conrad. "You don’t have the audacity to even mention Luna Valerie’s name, do you understand?" Alpha Conrad scolded his head warrior, who shivered slightly.

"I’m sorry, Alpha." Alpha Conrad didn’t back down, snatching the phone and dialing Kailani’s number.

"Where is Alpha Denzel?"

"Can I speak to Angel first?" Kailani asked, as she usually would. It also confirmed to Alpha Conrad that she knew nothing about the disappearance of his Beta and the human girl.

"Just answer me if you want her to live. I don’t have time to go to her now," Alpha Conrad snarled over the phone.

Kailani didn’t want to be stubborn, deciding to cooperate. "I heard rumors from some warriors that he went to the Litha Moon Pack."

"And Adira didn’t inform me?" Alpha Conrad thought aloud, wondering if Adira knew anything about the kidnapping. However, the thought only added to his confusion.

As he contemplated dialing Adira’s number after ending the call with Kailani, one of the warriors came running towards him.

"Alpha, we found the Beta’s body. He is badly injured and unable to heal."

Alpha Conrad froze, worry gnawing at him. If he lost Troy, he wouldn’t have answers about the kidnapping. This was his golden opportunity. "Take him to the hospital. I will be there."

"Yes, Alpha."

On the other end of the line, Kailani thought about informing Alpha Denzel about Alpha Conrad’s sudden call and dialed his number, relieved when he answered on the second ring.

"Alpha, he just called asking for your location. I told him you were at the Litha Moon Pack as I heard from the warriors. He asked why Adira did not inform him but got distracted and ended the call."

Alpha Denzel guessed that Alpha Conrad would call Adira, but since he didn’t leave any traces behind, he was least worried. "That is okay. If he calls again, just let me know."

"Yes, Alpha."

Alpha Denzel was about to hang up when she spoke again. "And Alpha, thank you very much for rescuing Angel. I’m sorry for not informing you earlier." She was overwhelmed with gratitude and didn’t know how to show it.

"At least you learned your lesson," Alpha Denzel responded before ending the call. He turned around to see Valerie standing beside him, looking around awkwardly. He had forgotten that he had brought her to his room since her cottage was being cleaned and disinfected.

"That’s the bathroom. I will get some clothes for you. Don’t step out of the door. If you need anything, just tell me. If I’m not here, call Alessia on the phone," he instructed.

Valerie couldn’t stop looking at the all-black theme in the room’s décor. Though classy, it was depressing not to have brighter colors.

"How long am I supposed to be here?" She asked, eager to return to the cottage, which was more colorful.

Alpha Denzel had a feeling she was thinking about Ryker. Though he was still him, he was beginning to feel jealous. "Why are you so eager to go? Do you have someone waiting for you?" he taunted. Valerie lowered her gaze, taking a step back.

She couldn’t tell him about Ryker and instead replied, "This cannot be my permanent room, so I need to know how long you can tolerate me. I mean... just forget it. I will shower now. Please get me some clothes and some flowers too. It’s so depressing here."

She quickly rushed to the bathroom to avoid further questions. As soon as Alpha Denzel stepped out of the room, he locked the door, but his phone beeped.

It was a text message on his secret phone from Valerie. ’The cottage was attacked, so I’m in the packhouse. Please don’t look for me there.’

’The cottage was attacked? Are you injured? I should come look for you. Have you seen a doctor?’ He asked all at once. As soon as he pressed the send button, he mindlinked the doctor to come to the packhouse to attend to her.

He was waiting for a response from Valerie as he went to Alessia’s room to get some clothes, but she was nowhere to be found.

When he mindlinked her, it did not connect. Alpha Denzel was worried, rushing out of her room as he began asking the warriors, "Where is Alessia?"
