Valerie was on top, lost in bliss, as she always did ever since reaching her third trimester due to her now large bump. But just as she was close to her release, the war sirens interrupted the moment.
"Fuck," she cursed, blatantly annoyed but greatly disturbed for her pack. All the erotic desires gushing through her and Denzel instantly died.
The fact that the warriors at the gate did not send a mindlink meant there was a bigger problem, and everybody needed to be warned at once, which they did not have the power to do.
Denzel knew it but was still very gentle in his movements towards Valerie, carrying her off him gently to the side of the bed. He began to put on a shirt, picked up her panty for her as he spoke and quickly helped her to wear them.
This stage made it difficult for her to bend, so he needed to do that for her even if there was a war knocking on their door.
"I will carry you to the safe house as fast as...." A mind link finally dropped before he completed the sentence, and his eyes rolled to the back.
’Alpha, it’s the underground rogues.’
The mindlink was from Burke, and Alpha Denzel could feel the fear in his voice.
Losing her wolf, Valerie could not sync at this moment with Alpha Denzel, but his paling expression was enough to let her know that things were terrible, and she began to hasten in putting on her clothes.
The only thing that would earn that kind of reaction from Denzel was the underground rogues.
"I’m fighting with you," she said seriously, interrupting the mindlink. Alpha Denzel ended the mindlink without responding, as he glared at her.
In moments like this, he could not allow for any form of negotiation, his only concern being her safety.
His wolf took over due to the statement she made as he growled, "don’t even dare to disobey me this time."
Well, that could not scare Valerie when there was a war. Valerie was too willful to be discouraged and could not be afraid of him. Not at a time like this.
"You can’t stop me, Denzel, this is my pack too," she said sternly. Denzel thought about another way. This was Valerie he was dealing with, and force would not work on her.
She was also his mate and Luna, but the most important part being that she was heavily pregnant.
He mellowed at her words and spoke softly, trying to negotiate the terms with her, to make her see and have a good reasoning about everything.
"I know, but you are carrying the pack’s pup, and this is the underground rogues we are talking about. You can’t shift, remember?"
Valerie froze slightly, as she had forgotten that she could not shift and yet, she could not just sit there and do nothing.
"That does not mean I’m going to cower in fear. I stand with my pack." The determination lacing her voice oozed out of her, making Denzel afraid.
He was suddenly scared of losing her and his pup due to her delicate condition, but since he could not discourage her, he thought of another way.
"Alright. Come with me, but let me get Alice."
The two hastened out of the cottage, seeing that the warriors were already putting into action all they put in place in preparation towards the fighting of these creatures.
The slimy substances prepared were being spread on the floor. Alpha Denzel was impressed when they drew closer, but Luna Valerie began to puke due to the repulsive herb the warriors emitted.
It was not easy for the warriors to drink and cover themselves with the substance Raven and Ray prepared, but being for their protection, they accepted it.
Alpha Denzel had his portion in a plastic container, but due to how the content repulsed Valerie, he could not use it in front of her.
"Val, please, it’s better you go to the safe house. Let me take you there," he said after Valerie finished emptying the content of her stomach. She reluctantly agreed.
If she continued standing there, she was sure to be weak from emptying everything in her stomach. She finally agreed after trying different means but not able to stand close to any of the warriors.
The grounds were also slimy, which she knew were all mechanisms of slowing down the underground rogues but was quite easy for the warriors to maneuver because of the boots they wore.
"Take me to the rooftop of the pack house," Valerie decided. From there, she could watch everything happening even if she could not join the war.
Alpha Denzel thought for a while. From there, he would also be able to see Valerie, so he agreed.
Lifting her bridal style in his arms, he dashed to the packhouse, climbed the stairs, and reached the rooftop.
His speed was as if he was in his wolf form but had not even shifted. After a peck on the cheek, he left her with two warriors who stayed at a distance because of the repulsive slime Valerie could not endure.
Dorothy and Alice already led the children, the elderly, and the weak to the safe house before returning to the battlefield for further instructions.
This was nothing they ever saw but had heard about because it happened at the Litha moon pack before.
The movements of the underground rogues were very slow, and the moment they took a step, they slipped and fell, but the warriors were in for a shock.
’Alpha, they are very fast with crawling,’ Burke informed through mindlink. Alpha Denzel’s gaze darkened dangerously.
He meant to slow them down and not to speed them up. Mind linking his warriors, he gave another instruction.
’Shift and follow my lead.’
They had no idea what Alpha Denzel had in mind but did as told. Alpha Denzel was thinking about the next move when a mindlink flew into his mind from Burke. ’Alpha, what do we do next?’
Fear had erased their ability to think straight.
