Alpha Lawn gradually relaxed at Alma’s response. "Don’t mention that evil name. She sold me out to Claudia."
Alma could never blame Alpha Lawn for not coming for her sooner. Claudia had already informed her that she had been declared dead in the pack.
"I’m glad you know that bit. But Eileen had another deal with the witch," Alpha Lawn revealed and continued.
"She transmigrated into Scarlet and used her to do a lot of evil. She stabbed me in the heart, and if not for this girl and her brother, I would have died. Then she took Valerie’s mate, Tristan, from her and ordered her execution."
Alma was shocked and at a loss upon hearing all this. Thinking she was the only one suffering and that Alpha Lawn must have even ended up with Eileen, it turned out to be a different story altogether.
Not only did her heart ache, but it was also filled with worry as she asked, "How did you survive it?"
Alpha Lawn pursed his lips and smiled bitterly. Everyone had returned to their seats, and it was quite saddening to hear all this.
She suffered, and so did her family, but Valerie’s words comforted her somehow. "Denzel is my second chance mate. He saved me."
Alma frowned a little. "So, you mean Eileen is alive but in Scarlet’s body?" She wished to have the strength to kill the witch herself but was still recovering, and her body was still very weak.
Nodding his head, Alpha Lawn responded, "Exactly. In the dungeon."
Alma’s teary eyes roamed her surroundings, and she saw both strange and familiar faces. She was beginning to understand that this was not her pack.
"Is this our pack? Is that Luna Fernanda?"
Luna Fernanda stood up and walked towards her as she spoke. "Yes, it’s me and Alpha Spartan. We both came here for Valerie’s coronation. You could not attend this one, but I believe you will attend that of Ashley."
Alma was so happy that aside from all the bad news, there was also a lot of good news. Denzel had saved her life, so she knew he was a good man, and Ashley also found her mate.
The Moon goddess still gave her happiness after everything. Alma’s pains were replaced with happiness.
The two middle-aged women hugged each other and broke into tears as Spartan spoke from where he sat.
"I’m now the Alpha King, Alma. Just as you predicted."
When Alma said it, he did not believe it, but with time, he began to accept the heavy responsibility before it was even bestowed on him.
"You deserve it, and your mate?" Alma asked when Luna Fernanda returned to where she sat before.
"She had to stay back. Somebody had to take care of the office and pack," Spartan said. Alma smiled in understanding. Then she looked around with a joyful heart.
"Thank you all so much. My son, Denzel. I thought I was dead in that well, and such bravery. Can you come closer?" Alma pinned her gaze on Alpha Denzel, admiration and respect filling her eyes.
For a moment, she thought all was lost and just had to be grateful for the fact that she saw her mate for the last time before giving up the ghost.
Her hope resonated when she saw the young determined man hanging on a rope, but just as his arms wrapped around her to pull her up, everything began collapsing on them.
Darkness took over her, she knew that was the end but woke up safe and sound.
When Alpha Denzel stood from his chair and walked close, Alma stood up and hugged him. It made Denzel miss his mother so much.
"Thank you very much for everything. You look strong. Are you an Alpha?"
Everybody laughed. "That is Alpha Denzel," Alpha Lawn said, the name rang a bell as Alma pulled away and stared at him for a long time.
"Denzel was the son of the Alpha of the Evergreen Pack."
"Yes, that’s me, and this is the Evergreen Pack."
Alma smiled profoundly. It all made sense now, as she pieced it all together. This was not her pack, and that was why everything was so different.
For a moment, she thought things had improved in her pack, but for now, she had to prepare for the worst, especially after hearing about all that had happened in her eighteen years of being away.
"No wonder. Thank you very much."
"No need to thank me, mom, we are all family now," Alpha Denzel assured her. She was so moved by his strong gestures of love, sympathy, care, and strength.
"It’s true. Come here, everybody." Alma opened her arms, and they all gathered together in a group hug under the moonlight; it was so magical.
When they pulled away, everybody returned to their chairs, and Valerie served the snacks. "So, that is Alpha Idris, Luna Fernanda’s son and Denzel’s cousin. He is the Alpha of the Litha Moon pack and is mated to Ashley," Alpha Lawn said.
Alma was slightly guilty. "I’m so sorry, Fernanda, I did not quite recognize him."
Luna Fernanda waved dismissively. "Don’t worry. I’m even happy that you recovered fast."
"I have no idea what those herbs are. They are so good," Luna Alma replied, staring admiringly at Raven. "Is that your brother?" she asked, Raven smiled and replied.
"Yes, my twin brother, Ray."
"Wonderful." She pointed at Godic. "And you are?"
Godic smiled and responded. "I am Godic. Denzel’s brother-in-law. I also take care of his businesses in Vegas, and his only sister is my mate."
"Wow. So, everyone around here is family. I’m so glad to be a part of it all." She sipped on the drink. "Mmmm, this Strawberry Limeade tastes like I made it."
Valerie and Ashley smiled. "We tried to recreate the taste, mom," Ashley said, Alma nodded her head in appreciation and bit on the cookie.
"You two learned so well, though you were both so small. You grew so well. Lawn, you’ve done an amazing job," she congratulated her husband who only smiled at her as she stared at Alessia.
"You must be Denzel’s sister. What’s your name?"
"Alessia, mom," Alessia responded and added. "But they all call me Aless."
"Aless, you are so stunning, just like your brother." Everyone laughed, and Valerie asked, as they continued to savor the snacks.
"Mom, tell us everything. What did the witch do to you?"
