"Please, can we get water?" Tristan asked, forgetting that the order had already been passed.
If he had made the request before the judgment was passed, then the consideration would have been made, but at the moment, it could be considered too late.
There was lightning in the sky, and the sound of thunder was heard. The wind picked up speed, and the rain began to pour.
The weather did not show any sign of impending rain, so this was unexpected.
"We don’t offer hospitality to outcasts," Alpha Denzel said in response to his request for water eagerly, eager to leave to avoid the rain.
"Warriors, throw them out of the pack," Alpha Denzel commanded. They were dragged on the floor, head down under the gazes of the few warriors who were on patrol, trying to take cover from the rain.
It had begun to pour heavily, and with the backs of the three men on the floor being dragged out of the pack, this was like a miracle to them. They opened their mouths to receive the rain, trying to rinse the metallic taste of the ashes from their mouths.
It was important whom one paid obeisance to as a master. If these had not tried to please Scarlet, their lives would not have turned this bad.
Alpha Lawn carried Luna Alma in his arms and began running to the pack house. Everyone looked on in awe. It was so romantic. Alpha Denzel was about to carry Valerie, but she refused.
"We are two strong couples. Let’s look out for casualties. This is growing into a tidal wave."
Alpha Denzel did not refuse and said to Luna Fernanda and Spartan, "We shall do a few rounds. You can go ahead."
The middle-aged couple walked leisurely in the rain, admitting that it felt so good. Ashley and Alpha Idris joined Valerie and Denzel in checking out the welfare of the pack members.
"Val, do you remember when we were younger?" Ashley said and dashed into the woods, not afraid of the storm.
"Of course, I do," Valerie said and chased after her. It was just as when they were little. The two Alphas exchanged glances as the wetness of their hair from the rain dripped on their faces.
"I don’t know about you, but I’m not leaving my Luna in the woods at a time like this," Alpha Denzel said and dashed towards the direction the two women went.
Alpha Idris did the same, chasing fervently after him.
Luna Valerie and Ashley’s laughter could be heard above the sound of the rain, making Alpha Denzel suddenly halt. Alpha Idris stopped beside him.
"Why did you stop? Don’t tell me that you gave up so soon."
Alpha Denzel wiped the rain from his face, which was soon replaced. "This is the happiest I have seen and heard her. Let’s allow them to enjoy the rain."
Idris did not refuse but had a suggestion. "Why don’t we sprint around the pack and come back to join them?"
"You are right," Denzel agreed. The two sprinted around the pack, stopping to help a few stranded pack members.
They must have woken up due to the heavy storm and were grateful for their Alphas’ help. They reached the new Omegas community development, and Alpha Denzel was impressed by all the ongoing works.
Valerie and Ashley kept running through the woods like little kids when Ashley suddenly stopped.
She was completely drenched in the rain, and Valerie stopped beside her. "What’s the matter? The pack is huge."
"This is where Orion and his men brutalized me."
Valerie frowned imperceptibly. "Then let’s look around. I’d love to know how they had access to the pack."
In spite of the thundering storm, the two went in search of any outlet Orion and his men must have used.
Orion might be dead, but they forgot to get his men, so this was suddenly important. Denzel and Idris finished their rounds, ensuring that everyone was safe in their houses before heading back into the woods.
If the two women were still being children, they planned to join them. As they say, opportunities like this do not come very often.
They reached where the two women were joyfully playing in the rain a few hours ago, but there was no sign of them.
"Val," Alpha Denzel yelled, his voice above the sound of the rain and loud enough for them to hear, but there was no response.
"Ashley," Alpha Idris yelled, but there was no response.
Alpha Denzel tried a mindlink. ’Val, where are you?’ It went through but was soon disconnected. Alpha Denzel frowned. His heart suddenly filled with worry.
"She’s not allowing me to connect with her," he said aloud. Idris was equally worried. Sadly, Ashley was not privy to the mindlink, not being a member of the Evergreen pack, and they did not have their phones with them.
"What do we do now? I’m not leaving without Ashley," Idris said seriously. Denzel agreed.
"Leaving without them is not an option."
The two of them continued running, screaming the names of the two women. The rain began to decrease in force as the two men continued searching around.
By the time they realized, they were at the borders of the pack, but Alpha Denzel remembered something and said, "I think I know where they are."
He charged into another direction, and Idris followed him, trusting his judgment. When he saw the cottage a distance away, he asked while running, "Denzel, how come you have this same cottage like mom has in our pack?"
This was the first time he came to this area of the pack. Denzel replied, "You should ask Aunt Fernanda."
The two of them stopped as the rain was picking up speed once again. "There is no sign of them. Even the cottage is dark. Hey, don’t you have people to take care of it?"
He saw how the cottage had been left unattended. Denzel was slightly guilty. "I will get someone to take care of it.
"So where could they be?" Idris asked. Denzel began walking in a different direction.
"I can feel her close." Walking a little, he saw a fabric tied to a tree.
"Isn’t this a piece of Ashley’s fabric?" Alpha Denzel asked. Alpha Idris’s heart thumped.
"And this is a piece of Valerie’s fabric," Alpha Denzel replied, suddenly feeling uneasy. Suddenly, he could feel fear from the bond.
"They are in danger..."
