Story: Nova
When we get to the kitchen Keeva is furious, Alara and I grab some food and begin to eat ignoring her mumbles. "You!" she points her finger in my face. "Keeva, the kitchen was clean when we left, let Nova eat her breakfast" Alara sighs.
Keeva ignores her and pulls me by the ear.
I stand up to stop the pain and walk with her through the hall I didn't try and protest her hold on my ear was strong.
She bursts through the big doors, releases my ear and pushes me forward.
"Keeva what is it now?" I heard his tired voice ask.
"I can't work like this, she is utterly useless, I am not a wet-nurse.
I have things to do and schedules to keep! "
I stand up and dust myself off "I am not useless!" I mumble. "Hue-man female, what do you have to say for yourself?" Cain rubs his eyes. "I am not useless; I did everything she asked! I sacrificed my sleep to finish the impossible tasks she gave" I put my hands on my hips.
"She doesn't use her powers, she is slow" Keeva spits. "Well if you didn't have a stick up your ass you would know I don't have powers" I snap. "You don't have powers? Your excellence it is useless" Bower tells him.
"Keeva that is all you may go" Cain waves her away. "Come" Cain orders me again. I was getting tired of this crap, but the authority in his voice made my legs move.
When I am closer, he rubs his stubble as he looks at me. "Turn" he says, I comply. "Again" I comply. When I face him again, he is squinting at me "You will assist me" he finally says.
"Sire!" Bower protests. "Bower out, I want to be left alone" Cain says annoyed. "Come hue-man" Bower reaches for me. "The hue-man stays" Cain tells him. Bower makes a noise and leaves the room, once he is gone Cain stares at me some more.
"Its rude to stare" I mumble. "Is that why you were staring at me the other day?" he questions. "I..its.." I don't know what to say. "What do you need assistance with?" I finally manage to get out. Cain leans toward me and when he gets to my neck he sniffs "You smell better Hue-man".
"Its Nova" I say. "Excuse me?" he says against my skin, he was still sniffing me. "My name is Nova" I say a little louder. He repeats it til, he feels like he likes how it sounds. "What do you need assistance with?" I try again.
"Whatever I want" he pulls away from my neck. "Where I come from this is usually where we talk about the boundaries we will have". "Well speak" he orders. "I will not do anything sexual with you or anyone else" I confidently say.
"You do not wish to bed a Prince?" Cain asks surprised. I mean I would love to but he didn't need to know that and I didn't want people to think I slept my way to his assistant. "No?" my voice waivers. I see Cain eyes smile in amusement at my hesitation. "Do you find me repulsive?" he asks.
"No, you are attractive" I say. "So, what is the issue, every woman in the land would die to have a night in my bed," my was this man sure of himself. Like he couldn't fathom my desire to not sleep with him his frown deepened.
"Is that your only boundary?" he asks. "That is the main one for now" I say, "I will tell you when I am uncomfortable". Cain nods I guess in approval. "Come" he stands up and starts walking. I nearly have to run after him with his long legs.
People murmur as we walk through the hall Prince Cain ignores them. I hadn't been to this side of the castle. We stop at two beautiful oak doors which Cain swings open. I scurry in after him.
The room was beautifully decorated royal blue and gold was all over the room, everything was marble. A giant bed stood in the middle, rows of books were placed on bookshelves and there was a work area. The light in the room came from the sun shining in from a large bay window.
"In here" his voice pulls me from my thoughts. I follow his voice into the bathroom where I see he has placed items onto the sink. "You will give me a shave" he says.
