Story: Nova
"Nova" I heard my name being whispered; a shimmering light appeared in the alley.
"Hey, you guys see that?" I turn to my friends, but they were turning around the corner.
I am not sure why I decided to wander into the alley, but I did, the light started moving fast and I chased it.
All of the sudden my vision gave out and everything went black, I felt the warm glow of the sun on my face.
I moaned rolling over and something tickled my nose.
What the heck? I open my eyes and scan my surrounding, oh my god. Why the fuck was I in a field? "Last time I get high" I mumble pulling myself up, all I could see was field...what kind of.. my thought was lost when I saw a figure in the distance moving toward me.
This could be good, I prayed it would be someone kind to help me orientate myself.
As I squinted, I saw four burning arrows flying towards me, there was no way they would reach me right?
They were so far away...as I said this the arrows landed around me in a perfect circle.
I let out a relieved laugh, I wasn't hit.
Just then they started making a humming sound and I was suddenly in a cage.
"This can't be good" I thought. When the figure finally reached me my blood ran cold. What I was looking at wasn't human, it didn't really have any form. It was like staring into darkness wrapped in a cloak. The eyes empty like they were soulless, it made my skin crawl.
As I stared at the thing in front of me the cage started to shrink, when the figure decided it was small enough it threw me on the back of its horse and started off.
I needed to get out of this, I didn't feel safe.
"I'm really not valuable, so you can just let me go" I tried.
No answer came from the thing. I said this about a thousand times before we finally stopped somewhere.
The inhabitants looked at the darkness in fear, "Please help me" I whispered to those who walked by.
They all averted their eyes and walked away fast. What was this bystander effect nonsense.
I began to panic no one seemed to be willing to help, so I decided to scream.
I think out of frustration, I was hungry, I was thirsty, and I was captured.
"I will cut out your tongue if you don't stop that horrid shrieking" I heard a voice hiss.
The darkness was standing in front of me I think looking angry it was hard to tell with the few facial features.
When I didn't say anything, I felt my mouth forced open and a cold rough grip on my tongue.
"Understand?" the voice hissed again. I nodded vigorously not wanting the sensation of its grip on my tongue anymore.
I felt a shiver run through my body as it finally let go.
The figure disappeared into a building again, a small human looking creature came holding a mug shaking. "I was t..t..t..told to give this to you" it said. "What is it?" I asked. "P..p..please, just drink it, it will be better for you Cresilas hates loud noises" he shoves the mug in my face.
I hesitated, debating if I should drink this, I had agreed to not scream again but did he not trust me, so he wanted to drug me?
What would happen if I was unconscious? Sighing I decided if the creatures here seemed so terrified, I should be asleep around Cresilas.
Before I put my lips on the mug I ask, "Do you know where he is taking me? "
"The castle" this time it didn't stutter.
Did that mean the castle was safe? I let the liquid flow down my throat, it tasted awful but did help with my thirst. "I p.
.p...pray, you will be chosen it's the only way to stay alive" I heard as I started drifting off.
Wait what, what was that supposed to mean?
My tongue felt heavy, and my vision became blurry before I could ask.
