Story: Nova
The next few days Alara and I went through the concerns.
A lot of them was that I didn't know all the different creatures and their history.
As Alara wrote down that we needed to hire me a tutor.
I read another aloud "Can she bare children?
" Alara frowned "Well that is a ridiculous question, you will bare the King many children.
I tried not to think about the act needed to do that.
Alara picked up another note she gasped as she scanned it "What does it say?" "It says: Will the Queen continue to have closet sex" I nearly choked on my water. "Ares" we both whisper. "He clearly wants to talk to you, go see him" Alara says.
I protest but lose and find my way to the caretaker's floor.
I knock and Orson opens the door, he looked like an older version of Ares.
"My Queen, how can I help you?" he bows.
I was still not used to people doing that.
"I would like to speak to Ares" I smile politely.
Orson looks at me and scratches his beard.
"Ares" he calls. "Does the Prince know you are here?" he asks while we wait. "The prince has business to attend to and wants to be left alone." I speak. "The prince is a jealous man, my Queen" Orson says softly. "I would never do anything that would harm you or Ares" I try to ease his worry.
Ares finally appears "Can we have some privacy?". Orson reluctantly moves from the door "Excuse me your highness, Keeva needs something fixed in the kitchen" he bows. Before he leaves he says "Boy behave". We wait a bit til he is gone I then push Ares into the room and close the door.
"My Queen" he says in surprise. "Cut the crap, why did you put that note in there? What if the Prince saw it?" I hiss. "I wanted to talk to you" he says quietly. "I am here talk". "Nova it pains me to see you with another" he mumbles. "We had something once" I say annoyed.
At least some parts of the myths were true, these creatures were possessive.
"Did it mean nothing to you?" he frowns.
"I didn't say that, but I am Prince Cain's future Queen, your future Queen.
I think its best you forget. I promised your father I would keep you safe and I can't do that if you are being reckless. " I try and be firm.
"If you think I am being reckless, why are you down here?
" he looks at me curiously. "To tell you to move on, this is the last time I will come down here" I tell him.
"Since that is the case..." Ares pulls me into his chest and kisses my lips softly and then passionately.
He then lets me go and smiles "A little parting gift".
I stand there in shock but then slap him right across the face.
For some reason that sparks desire in his eyes.
"Why...I just told you...do you have a death wish?
I touch my lips like I have been burnt. "Nova.
.." he says softly, I turn and bump into Orson who was standing in the doorway. I walk as fast as I can to my room.
My mind is racing as I walk in and close the door. I mentally scream before I notice Cain is sitting on my bed staring at me. "Nova?" he calls. "Oh, Cain hi. Is there something I can help you with?" I try to compose myself. "Do I need a reason to visit my future wife?" he cocks his head at me.
"I suppose not" I smile. I hoped I looked composed.
"I thought you were working" I say when he doesn't say anything.
"I finished early and wanted to spend time with my future wife, take her on a what was it called 'Date' " he says.
"Oh, that's nice" I smile. "Nova, I am going to ask you a question and I want an honest answer".
Please let this be about anything but Ares I pray.
"Why the hell do you smell like Ares?" he asks.
"I went down to thank Orson for the suggestion box" I lie.
Was I always such a quick liar? "What did he say?
" he presses "About what?" I ask. "The suggestion box" Cain says drly.
"Oh he said it was his pleasure" I laugh.
