Story: His Lucky Blessing

I had to be honest, being in the same house with my family was great but I knew Blessyn was uncomfortable here.

No matter what I tried to do she just wasn’t having it.

This morning, she was up crying in the bathroom and when I asked her what was wrong, she said she was fine.

It was like our communication had broken down completely.

She rarely got out of the bed and when she did, it was only to tend to Kani.

“Do you need me to do anything?” I played in her hair as she had her back turned to me. Cecelia had long come and got Kani so we could spend some time together.

“No, I’ll be alright.”

“Bless, I don’t think you’re going to be good if you don’t talk to me.

I’ve let you go a few times brushing me off but today we need to talk.

Don’t think I don’t know how you slip into your depressive states.

I know the loss of your mama is a lot to handle and then Merci too.

We both dealing with it which is why we need to lean on each other. ”

“I don’t think you understand that I have loss everything. My barbershop, my first son, my sister, and now my mama. Like what the fuck have I done to deserve so much goddamn pain?”

Her mentioning her son stung me. She knew I would forever feel bad about that shit. I lost my marriage behind it and had been fighting ever since to get it back.

“I’m going to make all this right. You know you don’t have to worry about that barbershop. We got the other one damn near ready to go.”

“You don’t understand the blood, sweat, and tears I put into building my business. A female can never get credit for shit.”

“Well put the same effort into the new one. I know your mind ain’t focused right now but you got time to rebuild to something bigger and better than ever. Spend that energy with your face in a notebook, planning how you want it. The money is not an issue for me.”

“I don’t think you understand me. You’ve paid your way through this whole relationship. Money is not everything and I would struggle before I let you buy me something else.”

I stopped playing in her hair and got up out the bed.

She was tapping on my last little bit of nerve, and I had to get the fuck away from her before I thumped her ass in the middle of her forehead.

Never had I threw money in her face. I was just a man that thought it was important to take care of my woman.

That’s why I worked so hard to get off the streets.

It was important to me to make sure that everyone connected to me was comfortable.

It wasn’t a handout. It was basically me taking the pressure off her and putting it on me.

As good as she ran her last shop, I knew the money would come back ten-fold.

“Where you going?” She sat up.

“The fuck away from your negative ass. You must’ve forgotten my mama just got murdered too.

You are not the only muthafucka ‘round this bitch sad but I have to put on a front for you ‘cause you too damn sensitive. Everything I say triggers you so I’mma leave and go check on a few of my businesses. The same businesses that’s trying to get your shit up and running but you too damn stubborn to see when a nigga really cares for you.

You gon’ keep on and I’ll never come the fuck back unless it’s for my children. ”

I left her ass with her thoughts. It was times that I didn’t want to be here, but my heart just wouldn’t let me leave her.

She had my children, and my son was the center of our love.

It made me feel good to know that I did something right but Blessyn had a way of making me feel like everything I did was wrong.

What kind of nigga wanted to be around that type of energy.

When I should’ve been laying low, I was cruising the streets with my gun sitting on my lap.

Being so busy with Blessyn, I noticed that Perc hadn’t called me when he touched down in Cali.

I pulled my phone out to call him, but he didn’t answer.

Since he was gone, I was going to swing by the warehouse and make sure that no product had been moved.

I completely shut everything down and nobody was going to eat until they brought information back.

It didn’t matter to me that they had families, nobody gave a damn about my family.

I stuck my key in the lock and opened the door. The last I remembered, I had someone come in and clean the place up, so I was confused about why it was a horrible stench. I followed the smell to the second level where two women were tied up.

“What the fuck.” As I was about to untie them, Perc called my phone.

“Wassup?”

“Wassup is why the fuck I gotta walk in the warehouse and see two bitches tied to a damn pole. These muthafuckas got the whole warehouse stankin’.”

“I’ll be there in a few minutes to explain everything.”

“Nigga, you got a few muthafuckin’ minutes too. This some bullshit and you know it.”

“Yeah, aight. You saying that now. I’m on the way.”

They were barely hanging on to life. The older woman was pretty much on her last leg.

She had so much urine and shit on her that it was going to take us several days to get the smell out.

The younger girl had started her cycle and was smelling like fish.

Perc was out of his damn mind. I did a lot of shit in my day, but this was not one of those things.

I was glad he had both blindfolded. I never fucked with women because I knew how I was about the women in my life.

I left to go make sure our product was in place while Perc was on his way to explain this mess he had made.

The nigga excuse better had been good. I wasn’t trying to get a fucking kidnapping charge for him.

The last thing we needed was this smell to hit the outside and people passing by start wondering what the smell was coming from.

From the looks of the older woman, she had about another two or three days left in her and she would be dead.

Perc’s weed could be smelled before he entered the room I was in.

He looked like he didn’t have a care in the world or the fact that he was holding two women hostage.

He passed the blunt to me as he blew smoke out.

After arguing with Blessyn, I knew I needed to hit the fucking blunt. I took it from he and pulled from it.

“Why the fuck you not in Cali?” I eyed him.

“I’m still going but I need to handle this first.”

“You wanna tell me what the hell you got going on in here?”

“You told me a nigga named Jaydee was the last person with her. You ain’t been in the streets so you don’t know who he is, but I do.

After you got out of the car, I hit the nigga up and asked him could we link.

He kept brushing me off, so I went to his baby mama house, scooped her ass up and then swung by the nigga mama house and got her old ass too.

You know the nigga know I got them and he still ain’t showed his ass up.

What that tell you?” Perc pulled from his blunt.

“Perc, you gotta let them bitches go. His mama gon’ die in this bitch.”

“Do it look like I give a fuck? That nigga knows where Merci is and if I gotta kill them, so be it.”

“This not it, bruh.”

Perc laughed, “This soft ass Lucky you trying to be ain’t it.

Nigga our mama just got murdered. Your ex-wife sister is fucking missing and a nigga almost killed you.

You betta wake the fuck up and realize a muthafucka’s don’t give a fuck ‘bout you. I need my brother back that would put a bullet in a bitch forehead for sayin’ the wrong thing.

The whole Kj situation got you fucked up but nigga if you don’t pick yo goddamn balls up and let’s take the streets back, we all gon’ be dead. ”

“Where this nigga hang at?”

“I been sitting on him. He’s been known to skip town but I got his bitch phone so I can keep tabs on him. He been living with this bitch in Decatur.”

“Let’s go get that nigga. If he knows where Merci at, then ain’t no telling what else he knows. I’m ready to get this shit over with so I can get my family back without it being any tension.”

“Let’s do this shit then.”

The sound of cracking when Perc’s gun connected with Jaydee’s mouth echoed through the building.

He wasn’t hard to find. The nigga was so comfortable that he moved around freely which was a shock after finding out that Perc wanted his head.

Atlanta was small. It was the surrounding counties that made it appear bigger.

Sometimes it wasn’t always easy to find a nigga.

Someone with a lot of money like this Jaydee cat was flashy. He was wherever the bitches were at.

“What you know nigga?” Perc pulled his head back. The nigga front teeth were missing and blood dripped down his chin as his mama and baby mama watched.

“I don’t know anything,” he said with blood spewing out with every word.

“Move, Perc. This nigga acts like we playin’ with him.”

Perc released him as I approached him and shot his ass in the knee. “Where the fuck is Merci?”

“Merci?” His baby mama asked. “You got me in here for that bitch? You said you wasn’t fuckin’ with her. Nigga, I’ll pull the trigger on you myself.”

“Look like you got trouble in paradise if you make it out,” I laughed.

“I left Merci in Cali. Fuck!” He cried out in pain.

“Cali where? This ain’t no fuckin’ guessing game bitch,” Perc stated.

“Mannnn, let my baby mama and mama go and I’ll tell you what you wanna know.”

Perc and I made eye contact. It was like we both were thinking the same thing. If we let them go, we would end up in jail. His mama for sure was going to the police. It was about to be a tragic ass night because no one was leaving out this bitch alive but me and my brother.

“You sure you don’t wanna tell me where my girl at?” Perc walked over to his mama and put the gun to her head. “You can tell me what the fuck we wanna know or the bitch that birth you dies. I’m only countin’ to five ‘cause my patience is gone with yo pussy ass. One…two…three…four…”

“She’s dead,” Jaydee blurted out.

Perc stared Jaydee dead in his face and pulled the trigger on his mama. Her body went limp but couldn’t fall over because she was chained to the pole. He moved around the pole and put the gun to his baby mama head.

“Perc, please don’t do this to me. We are better than this. I had no idea about none of this,” Jaydee baby mama begged.

“Don’t ever beg a nigga, bitch.” Perc pulled the trigger and sent her head back hitting the pole before it rested on her chest.

“You killed my muthafucka girl for what?” Perc kicked him in the middle of his chest. Jaydee screamed out in pain as he fell back. Beside me shooting him in his knee, the nigga's arm was out of socket from us snatching his ass up.

“I was paid!” Jaydee said.

Perc was about to beat his ass, but I stopped him. “Let the nigga speak. He wanna tell his side before he dies. Go ‘head and talk yo shit.”

“I was paid to make her fall for me. Once I got her away from y’all I was ordered to kill her and go on about my life.”

“Who told you to do it?” Perc asked before he pulled his ringing phone out of his pocket. “Yeah,” he spoke on the phone.

I wasn’t sure who was on the other side of the phone, but Perc dropped his gun.

It was like the life had been knocked out of him.

He had never looked so damn flustered and that made me worried.

I couldn’t take any more bad news. He hung up his phone and looked at me.

The nigga looked like he had a tear in his eyes.

“Merci’s alive.”

I stood over Jaydee and shot him in his chest three times before grabbing my brother. This wasn’t just good news for him, it was going to affect Blessyn as well. This was a changing point for everyone. Perc was so weak that I had to help him outside get some air.

“Let me get this cleaned up and we’ll get you home. Tomorrow we’ll go get her.”

“Tomorrow?”

“Perc, tomorrow. Do you see the damage we did in here? Let me get this shit cleaned up. I also need to go home and tell Blessyn. Trust me I want her back home too.”

After making a few calls, Perc and I walked in the house around three in the morning. Blessyn was pacing the floor like she waiting on me to come home. I hadn’t called since I left her ass earlier.

“Where the hell you been? I called you several times,” she said. She was shaking and her eyes were red.

“Don’t start that arguing shit. Help me get him upstairs and in bed.”

“What’s wrong with him?”

“I’ll tell you when I get him in bed.”

Blessyn helped me get Perc in the bed. Since he got the news, he had been throwing up and sweating.

As soon as we brought Merci home, I was getting on this nigga's head.

He had never been in love, but it was something about Merci that made the nigga weak.

I closed the door behind me and went into the bedroom I was sharing with Syn and my son.

“What the fuck going on? Why you smell like shit, and you got blood all over you.” She covered her nose.

“Don’t worry ‘bout it. Can you sit down for a minute so I can tell you something?”

“No, I’ll stand.”

“Blessyn, you pregnant and I need you to sit yo muthafuckin’ ass down. Sick of asking you shit, now I’m telling you.”

Blessyn sat down on the bed. I kneeled in front of her just in case she passed out. This was the news she had been waiting for and now she was about to get it.

“Merci is alive.”

“Wha…what? Where?”

“Perc knows all the details. We’re leaving tomorrow.”

“I’m going too.”

“Nah, that probably won’t be good because we don’t have anyone to stay with the kids.”

“You better get your fucking nurse to get them. You tell me, my sister, alive and then tell me I can’t go. Yeah, you got me fucked up now.”

“Aight, they gotta go with us. Cecelia’s time is up now that I’m walking.”

“Figure it out but I’m going.”
