Story: His Lucky Blessing
I hit my steering wheel so many times in the garage that I thought the airbag was going to deploy.
When I went up to her condo, I told myself I wasn’t going to fuck her.
That shit was harder than I thought. Seeing her in that dress with her nipples all hard was a weak point for me.
I didn’t think dick was going to make her want to be with me, but I wasn’t expecting her to treat me like I was still a side nigga or some shit.
Now that I knew the baby was mine, I felt better.
Now I knew how I needed to move from now on.
Merci’s scent filled my car. I wanted to go back upstairs and choke the shit out of her ass for trying me with that good ass pussy.
I started my car and drove my ass around the city trying to clear my head.
Merci had my head fucked up. It felt good to see her though.
I pulled up in the hood thinking I was going to smoke on my mama porch, but the street was full of police.
I parked and walked down the sidewalk to see what was up.
My mama’s neighbor was sick and we weren’t expecting her to make it so that may have been why the police presence was so heavy.
“Wassup? What they doing?” I walked up on one of the other neighbors.
“Shit I don’t know. They said they heard gunshots coming out of yo mama house.”
“My mama house?” I questioned.
“Yes, nigga. Yo mama house.”
I took off running the rest of the way but was stopped before crossing the tape. “That’s my mama house. You gotta let me in!” I told the officer.
“I can’t do that. You gotta stay behind the tape.”
I ran my hands through my dreads. They had to tell me something. I went across the tape anyway and rushed towards the house to see my mama’s body lying at the front door with her head blown off. Vomit rushed to my mouth and projected out of my mouth.
“Somebody get him out of here!” A detective yelled.
I dropped to my knees not caring about the pool of blood. Her face was not recognizable, but I knew it was her from her tattoos. The same neighbor that we thought wasn’t going to make was the one to come and grab me. She sat me on her porch as we waited for them to come and talk to me.
“It’s been an hour. You need to call your brother,” she told me.
I had been sitting there numb. It was hard to catch me off guard like that. Nothing frazzled me but to see my mama like that, knocked me off my beam.
“Can you…can you call him for me. I can’t even tell him this shit.”
We didn’t beef with anyone and if we did, we handled that shit before they handled us.
Everyone knew our mama was off limits. If you wanted us, then you came for us.
I would never kill a nigga mama unless it was to make a statement.
Someone had started a war. Lucky came flying around the corner twenty minutes later with death in his eyes.
I thought he was going to take this a little better than me, but he was pissed and I could see it in his posture.
“All y’all muthafuckas can leave. If you can’t start talking then get the fuck from in front of my mama goddamn house,” he barked.
People started scattering so fast that the police was shocked because they had already asked for people to leave. The news station had popped up and we both decided to not show our face. Lucky was always levelheaded but right now he was snapping on everyone.
“Get her body to the lab. I wanna know what type of bullets it was, what time and what fucking angle. Y’all got my mama laying on the fuckin’ ground this long pissing me off. If y’all don’t get this shit solved, I’ll do it myself,” Lucky stated.
“Don’t incriminate yourself out here,” an officer said.
“I’m telling you to your muthafuckin’ face that I don’t give a fuck.
My mama laying in body bag nigga. You think I give a fuck ‘bout your badge. If you worried, then lock me up now but Atlanta will feel my fucking wrath and I’ll set the city on fire until I find out who had the heart to run up on my mama property and kill her. ”
“Bruh, come on,” I told him.
“Them muthafuckas killed our mama. Did you drive?” Lucky asked me.
“Yeah.”
“Leave it and come ride with me,” he told me.
We rode around for hours asking questions, but no one saw anything. Usually, the hood was buzzing by now, but this was different. It was me and Lucky. Fear had set in, and nobody was out not even the dope boys.
“I know how you feel about guns and shit but you need to strap the fuck up. We don’t know who the fuck after us, and I ain’t ‘bout to lose you ‘cause you don’t like to be strapped.”
“Do you see them headlights behind me? I’m always strapped as long as them muthafuckas behind me.
We gon’ find out who did this shit. What we need to be doing is protecting the women in our life.
I know you ain’t fucking with Lexus but you need to get her and Merci together so you can keep an eye on them.
Whoever did this don’t give a fuck about a woman.
I’mma drop you off so you can go handle that and we’ll get together in the morning to discuss what we wanna do with mama. ”
I dapped my brother up and hugged him. Shit had just turned real for us.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to get them to in the same space, but Lexus had my daughter.
Maybe if she gave me my daughter then she could stay where the fuck she was at.
I didn’t give a damn if she got killed with all the hell she caused me.
When I saw Merci’s name pop up on my phone, I knew she had got the news.
I sent her to voicemail because I didn’t feel like talking to her right then. It was only going to make me madder.
When I got back to my car, I headed to Lexus. She had already heard the news but didn’t give a fuck. That gave me the answer I needed.
“I only came for my daughter. I need to make sure she’s safe.”
“You ain’t taking her nowhere. She’s safe here with me.”
“Lexus, I’m walking out the door with my daughter. If you try to stop me, I don’t mind killing you. So, what we gonna do?” I stepped closer to her.
I could tell she wanted to cause a scene but the stress I was up under, she could tell by the look in my eyes, I was serious. It didn't take her long to change my daughter and hand her over. Once I got her strapped in, I finally called Merci back.
“Perc are you okay? I heard what happened,” she went off as soon as the call connected.
“Pack some shit and be downstairs in thirty minutes,” I said before hanging up.
