Gage grabbed the bat and yanked it hard, Eric almost losing his grip on it.
Gage tugged hard once more, yanking the bat out of Eric’s hands.
At that moment Danny walked out of the building and when he saw what was going on, he rushed Eric and tackled him the ground.
With one punch, Danny knocked Eric out.
He looked up at Gage and asked, “Are you all right?”
“Yeah, he barely got me. Probably need to go see a doctor though.”
Danny pulled out his phone and called 911, reporting the assault and staying with Gage until they arrived.
They revived Eric and hauled him off to jail, asking Gage if he wanted to ride in the ambulance or not.
Gage declined but told them he would go to the doctor as soon as he could.
Once he gave his statement to the police and let his Team Lead know he was going home, he headed to Elisa’s apartment.
He arrived and carefully walked up the stairs, knocking on her door.
She answered the door and when she saw him, her face paled.
“Are you all right?” she asked.
He shook his head, “Your crazy ass ex attacked me with a baseball bat.”
“What?!”
“He attacked me with a baseball bat. He barely got me, but enough to make it hurt like hell. Can you take me to the emergency room? I told them I would go as soon as I could.”
“Of course!”
She grabbed her purse, keys and phone and rushed out the door; making sure to lock the door before she left.
The ride to the emergency room was short, and she tried not to speed but she couldn’t help it.
When they arrived, she finally asked what happened to Eric.
“Danny punched him and knocked his ass out. Then he called the cops and they arrested Eric.”
“Danny really punched him? Danny?”
He laughed and nodded, cringing when pain shot down his arm.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you laugh.”
He smiled. “I’m all right.”
Several x-rays and hours later, they diagnosed Gage with swelling and a massive bruise, but no broken bones.
He just had to take it easy and take some anti-inflammatory medicines.
Elisa drove him to the pharmacy to pick up his meds, the car ride long and tiring.
They went to Walgreens and put the prescriptions in, waiting in the small area while they filled them.
“Thank goodness for late night pharmacies,” Gage said, making her laugh.
