What would come would come. Besides, she still wasn’t sure if she was completely over Eric, and she didn’t want to involve herself with someone who she wasn’t sure she could fully commit to.

Are you insane? He is good looking, funny, smart and a hell of a lot better lay than Eric ever was! Screw that guy!

Elisa scowled at her inner self.

She yawned, realizing that she was still tired. Snuggling deeper into Gage, she fell back asleep, content to lay there for now and forget about the tiny details.

Some hours later, Gage woke up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, leaning over to check his phone for the time.

When he saw that he had six messages from people, he slowly removed himself from the entanglement of Elisa’s arms and legs, chuckling as she huffed a little but quieted and stilled.

He pulled on his boxers that somehow had made it into the bedroom and walked out into the living room, heading to the kitchen to get some orange juice from the fridge.

While pouring, he checked his messages, seeing two from Duncan and three from Erin and one from his mom.

He opened the thread of his and Duncan’s texts, the raunchy texts about what happened last night making him laugh.

He had had a good time with Eliot, and he was not afraid to tell Gage all about it.

Gage groaned and opened the thread from Erin, rolling his eyes as he read her texts about how annoying her fiancée is and how she wished they were still married and blah blah blah. She then sent him a photo of them kissing displaying her large ring, making him want to throw up.

Her fiancée’s face was blocked by her head so he couldn’t see his face. He was severely tempted to ask who he was so he could kick his ass.

She told him how he was so amazing and how she couldn’t wait to marry him and how he was better than Gage.

He had just hit a button to delete the thread when Elisa walked out of the room with his shirt on, Gage putting the phone down and whistling at her.

Elisa blushed and walked over to the island, smiling until she saw the photo from his texts with Erin.

When her face paled, he frowned, “Are you all right?”

“Who is that?” she asked, pointing to his phone.

“That’s my ex-wife.”

“That’s my ex-boyfriend’s new fiancée…” she said, looking up at him.

Gage felt his heart drop into his stomach.

“She is what?” he asked, looking back down at the photo and then up at Elisa.

Numbly, Elisa walked over to her purse and pulled out her phone, pulling up the thread with Eric and showing him the picture.

“The Eric from work? Eric is the guy my wife was cheating on me with? And he is your ex? Cheated on you while she was cheating on me?”

Gage looked so adorably befuddled that even though Elisa was really pissed, she couldn’t help but think that he was adorable.

“Apparently,” she said, sitting down at the dining room table and staring down at the picture on her phone.

“That is some fucked up shit,” he said, crossing his arms over his chest and trying to hide the pain that sprouted.

Elisa sat at the table, trying to keep herself from crying. Her and Eric had been over for a while, and now that Gage had come into her life this happened?

She also felt pain for Gage being cheated on, and for herself. Eric had conveniently forgotten to mention that the woman he was cheating with was married.

Not like that would have made it any better…

Elisa stood up and walked over to Gage, tears in her eyes when she whispered, “I’m so sorry that happened to you. They are terrible people to have treated you that way.”
