Page 1 of Call Me Yours

Chapter One

Elisa sat at her desk, staring blankly at the screen in front of her as the call center buzzed around her.

With a start she realized that she had received a call."Thank you for contacting Destin Support, my name is Elisa. How can I help you today?"

She sighed inwardly as the customer began to yell at her, telling her how terrible Destin's service was and how she had been having so many issues receiving calls over the last few days.

"I understand how frustrating that can be for you," Elisa stated, preparing herself for the torrid word vomit that usually comes afterwards.

She was not disappointed.

"You couldn't possibly understand what I am going through! I have a daughter who is..."

Elisa zoned out as the lady yelled at her about her daughter and her son-in-law and her husband and her dog, making her roll her eyes multiple times as she ranted and raved.

A few minutes later, the lady calmed down, giving Elisa the chance to ask her a few questions about her situation.

Once the lady realized that Elisa was trying to help her, she was the perfect gentlewoman, answering all the questions Elisa had for her and working with her as she walked the lady through the troubleshooting steps. When they finally were done, although they had not fully fixed her issue, she surprised Elisa.

"Thank you, Elisa, for helping this old lady with her issue. I apologize for my behavior; I just was very distressed by the whole situation."

Elisa smiled, even though she couldn't see her.

"I understand. I know it is frustrating, and hopefully those further steps will help you. Do you have any other questions for me?"

"I do not. Thank you again!"

"Not a problem. Thank you for contacting Destin Support and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your afternoon."

She said good-bye and Elisa released the call, looking at the clock on her computer.

Yes! Break time!

She quickly reached over to her phone and hit the appropriate buttons to go to break, pulling her headset off her head and setting it down on the desk next to her.

Stretching, she ran her fingers through her long, black hair, teasing the purple strands interspersed with the darker ones.

She pushed away from her desk and stood, grabbing her badge and clipping it to her belt loop on her jeans.

Locking her computer, she headed across the floor to her friend Esme's desk, chuckling at the look of horror on her friend's face.Of course, Esme always looked like that.

She REALLY hated her job, but she only stayed because she was a) good at her job, and b) Elisa begged her to stay and not leave her.

"Hey, are you on a call?" Elisa asked as she walked up to her desk. Esme hit the mute button and rolled her eyes, "Of course I am."

She hit the mute button and began to talk to the customer again, Elisa looking around the call center floor as she stood there.

They had recently gotten a new training class on the floor, as their turnover rate was really high.

Elisa had not seen them yet, since their first day on the floor had been her last off day, so she was excited to see the newbies.

"Are the new people supposed to be here today?" she asked, looking back at Esme.

Esme nodded and went back to her customer.

She pressed the mute button again and said, "They actually should be here soon. They usually start at two."

Elisa came around her cubicle and looked at the clock, seeing that it was one fifty PM.
