She ruffled the pup’s fur and Raina yawned, licking Elisa’s arm where she was petting her and then sighed, finally settling down.
Gage chuckled and looked over at Raina, now resting peacefully next to them on the couch.
“Are you ready?” he asked, looking down at her and brushing a strand of hair out of her face.
She nodded and he pressed one more kiss to her forehead before starting the movie up.
About half an hour later, Elisa’s phone went off and she picked it up and checked who the message was from.
When she saw it was from Eric she almost instantly deleted it but stopped when she saw the photo he sent her.
He’d sent her a photo of him and Erin, holding her hand up with his and both of them wearing wedding rings.
Her diamond was back on her finger along with a diamond studded band. On his hand was what looked like a white gold band.
Have fun with your sloppy seconds! Mr. and Mrs. Reid.
She showed Gage the picture and he laughed, “Good riddance. They deserve each other.”
He deleted the picture and tossed her phone back on to the couch, pulling her back to him and their movie.
Chapter Nine
When they went back to work, everyone was congratulating Eric on his marriage, making Elisa roll her eyes.
She sat down at her desk, curious as to why Eric was still here. He was supposed to have left already.
Who cares?
She sighed and stared at her computer, working on her solitaire game.
“Hello, sloppy seconds.”
She squeezed her mouse tightly and took a deep breath, willing herself to ignore him.
“Hello, I am speaking to you.”
Pasting a fake smile on her face, she turned to face him.
“What do you want?”
“You haven’t congratulated me yet.”
“And I am not going to, so keep walking Casanova.”
He scowled at her and leaned down, slamming his hands down on the arms of her chair.
“That’s not the right answer.”
“What is the right answer?” she asked, arching her brow at him.
“The right answer is ‘Congratulations on your marriage Eric. I hope you are happy, unlike me who will never be happy without you.’”
She stared at him, her anger rising.
“Get out of my face, before I go tell HR you are harassing me.”
He laughed in her face.
