“As long as I’m with you, I’m golden.”

She blushed and joined him on the ferris wheel, thankful that it was one of the ferris wheels with the enclosed seats, not the open ones.

He sat down on one of the benches on one side and she sat next to him, waiting for others to join them.

When the attendant shut the door instead and the carriage moved, Gage quipped, “Yay! Don’t have to share with anyone else. That means I can do this.”

He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her, just a gentle teasing kiss as the ferris wheel went up.

Gage pulled away and Elisa smiled brightly.

“Why did you stop?”

“I wanted to see your face, that’s all.”

Elisa felt a blush coming on and tried to turn her face away, but Gage held on to it.

“You are so cute when you blush,” he teased, pressing a soft kiss to her hot cheeks.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

With one last kiss, he turned away from her and put his arm around her shoulder, enjoying the view of downtown Round Rock from the ferris wheel.

Elisa looked around the view as they slowly moved up. “How long were you and Erin married?”

He frowned, clearly put off by the topic.

“We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, but I was curious.”

She sighed and looked away.

“It’s all right. Not something I love talking about, but I want to be honest with you, especially after what we found out this afternoon.”

She pushed any thoughts of Eric out of her mind.

Scumbag.

“We were married for two years. It worked out fine for the first year and a half, but then it all went south from there. We started arguing more, she started coming home late every night and then I found out that she was sleeping with someone else. Thankfully we hadn’t had sex since my last STD test so I knew that I wouldn’t have gotten anything from her.”

Elisa had been sure to get tested after Eric had revealed he had cheated on her, and they hadn’t found anything and since she hadn’t slept with anyone else until Gage, they should both be okay.

“I took it pretty hard when we got divorced, but I didn’t let it get me down. I continued working and then Erin and I actually got back together for about a month. That’s when she decided to move here. I came with her and then we broke up again, for good this time. Probably about the time she met your ex.”

“Probably. We were only together for about six months though and he said that they had been engaged for over nine months. So, they only dated for like three months before getting engaged.”

“Yeah, Erin doesn’t like to wait. We were together for about six months before she gave me an ultimatum: Propose or we’re done. Should have just ended it there.”

Then he wouldn’t have moved to Texas and met Elisa…

“However, you can’t change the past. You can only look forward to the future.”

She smiled.

“That is very true. I am very excited about the future now.”

“Well, now that we have that out of the way,” he said, making her laugh.
