"Hey Gage, how are you doing?"
Gage laughed.
"I should be asking you that after he just introduced you to the wall back there."
Gage looked at his hands and then back up at him, whispering conspiratorially, "It is my fault though, and I am sorry for that. I think I got under Eric's skin."
Danny looked back at the hallway even though they were long gone and asked, "Under Eric's skin? By doing what?"
"He called the new guy in Elisa's life a "downgrade." I told him who that was."
Danny's mouth made an O before he burst out laughing.
"I can't believe you said that. It's about time though. Elisa has wasted enough time on that jerk. Didn't deserve her then, doesn't deserve her wasting her time on him now."
Gage agreed.
"He is an asshat who does not deserve anyone's love," He growled, thinking about the way Eric talked about Elisa, as if she had never mattered to him.
"He has a new fiancée, and he is only with her because he became a manager and dumped Elisa. I heard him talking once about he went to the dark side once and came back to the light when he found his new fiancée."
Gage could feel his blood boiling as Danny spoke.
If only he could meet Eric somewhere outside of work...
"Don't worry about him Danny. Elisa won't be hooked on him for much longer."
Hopefully, she will be all over me soon, and I won't hesitate to be all over her.
He checked his watch and stood up, patting Danny on the shoulder.
"Gotta run man, I will see ya later."
Danny said goodbye to him, and he headed back out to the floor.
Chapter Four
Elisa lay on her bed, holding her book suspended in the air as she read.
Her phone went off and surprised her, making her drop her book on her face.
She sighed and quickly removed the book, searching through the covers for her phone.
Once the lost item was found, she unlocked it; her stomach filling with dread when she saw her ex's name.
Clicking on the text message she cringed when she read,Having fun with your downgrade?
She growled in anger and took a deep breath, willing herself not to reply.
Before she even had the chance to reply, another message popped up.
This time it was a photo of him and his fiancée kissing.
They were holding their hands together with her diamond ring shining brightly.
Enjoy your second-rate hobo.
Elisa smiled as she typed:I hope your fiancée enjoys my sloppy seconds.
