His excuse was that he had not been sure of the engagement.
He had gone to see his fiancée one last time to break up with her but realized he couldn't be with anyone but her.
She felt a deep ache inside for what could have been, but she was happy that he was not in her life anymore.
She would not be with someone again who wasn't 100% open and honest with her. No hiding secret Facebook pages or Instagramaccounts that had their secret love displayed all over it.
Eric had made Elisa waste over six months of her life on him, shedding tears for at least another month or two.
That was a year ago, and she was done.
"No more tears," she stated to herself, sticking the spoon back into her ice cream tub.
With a sad sigh she realized it was all gone.
"Crap," she said, getting out of her comfy chair to go throw it away.
As she washed off her spoon, she stared at her bedroom door from the kitchen.
She wanted so badly to go back in there and check her phone.
Drying the spoon off she gave up, putting it in the dishwasher and then heading to the bedroom.
She turned on the light and picked up her phone, noticing that the LED notifications light was blinking.
Taking a deep breath, she hit the power button, lighting up the little screen.
She saw one message there: from Gage.
It made her so happy that she quickly unlocked the phone, clicking on the message.
I hope you enjoy our date tomorrow. I have got some fun stuff planned.
She squealed to herself, dissolving in to giggles at the giddy feeling in her stomach.
I'm looking forward to it. What time did you want to go?
She hit send and threw her phone on the bed, getting under the covers and picking up her book again.
A few minutes later her phone went off and she picked it up to check it.
I will pick you up around 7:30. What's your address?
She sent him the address and put the phone down, picking up one of her smaller pillows and pressing it to her face and squealing loudly as she slid down into the bed.
Gage looked down at his phone on the bed after it went off, his smile growing when he saw it was Elisa replying to his message.
He checked the message and Gage realized she didn't live too far from him.
When his phone lit up again with another message from her, he smiled.
Do you know where that is?
I do.
Great! I will see you tomorrow!
The conversation ended there, and he put his phone down, his mind racing towards tomorrow.
