Story: Pretty Poison

Karlee and Evan were in the corner with two clipboards as they whispered. I was sure that our coach had finally made her choice for the competition team, which made me even more hectic.

I changed my sneakers and started to warm up too.

It didn't take long for Kendra to notice my presence there, she smiled weakly in my direction, but I couldn't respond. I was nervous, anxious and even a little irritated that she had gone to talk to another teammate first rather than me. Maybe...if she was talking to Colleen or one of her roommates I wouldn't care, but apparently she was all giggles with someone else. My feeling was irrational, but I had a slight stupid feeling that anyone could be better than me, especially after everything that had happened in the last few months. It was a silly insecurity, I knew, but it was still a feeling that took over me.

I stretched out on the floor, letting my forehead rest on my knee and when I looked forward again, I saw Kendra sitting in front of me.

“Hi…” Her tone sounded a little afraid.

“Hi. How was the trip?”

She laughed sarcastically.

“I'd rather forget it happened.” She declared with painful sincerity.

“Wow, was it so bad to return to your mansion in Chamberlain?”

“It was.”

In her look I saw that that was the end of the subject, Kendra wouldn't tell me anything more.

“Ok, I’m glad you’re back…” I whispered .

“It's good to be back.”

I gathered my legs and lay down. I didn't want to make the atmosphere awkward. I didn't want to let what happened on Friday get lost. I needed to kiss her more, especially because I felt like I hadn't done it enough yet.

“Help me stretch?”

She looked at me suspiciously.

“Are you sure?”

“You're not going to make me break my leg, are you?” I knew she wouldn't do anything. In fact, my trust in her had increased a lot since last Friday.

“No…” She took her time to respond.

I left my legs up, leaving just my ass touching the floor until Kendra got close enough for me to rest one leg on her side and the other over her shoulder. Her job was to force the leg supported by the shoulder forward. And so she did.

“This position is very questionable.” I mocked, making her laugh.

“Your humor sometimes resembles that of a middle schooler…”

“Don't you like my bad jokes?” I made an offended face and then one of pain when I felt the muscle stretching. Kendra looked worried, but I immediately reassured her. “It didn't hurt.”

“Oh, ok…” I lowered my leg and brought the other to her shoulder. “You know, if you want... we can forget last Friday.”

I grimaced again in pain and let my leg come out of the exercise position, resting both on the floor, opening them and having Kendra on her knees in the middle. I sat down and looked at her more closely.

“What?”

“Maybe... on Saturday morning you were still drunk and didn't think properly...” She started to say, tangling her fingers together. She was nervous and her cheeks started to blush. “I know you might have regretted it and everything…”

“Kendra…”

“And it's okay, you know? We don’t need to turn this into something relevant, we can just forget what happened…”

“Kendra!” I called her name again, finally making her shut up. “I don't want to forget and... worse than that...” I got closer to her, leaving my lips close to her earlobe. And then I cupped my hand to muffle the sound a little as I said: “I want to repeat the dose as soon as possible.”
