Story: Pretty Poison

“Define alive…” I mocked.

I sat down and she did the same, in front of me.

“Are you ready for your brother's fraternity party today?”

“Yeah, I’m excited for it. Can’t wait for all the chaos.”

“Just for that?”

I saw a glimmer of anxiety in Kendra and it was new. It was different to see her from that new perspective, but at the same time it was the most incredible thing in the universe. Mainly because I was learning to admire and really like that side of her.

I bent down, getting on my knees, but without giving any hint of intimacy in front of the others.

“And for being able to have time alone with you.”

It had been a week since I had woken up next to Kendra and since then, we’d had little time alone. And the fact that I missed it made me more worried every day about what I was doing. We were no longer the mortal enemies we used to be, but I was still a little afraid of giving in to the sentimental sense of things. I didn't want to get disappointed and I didn't want to force Kendra to do anything she didn't want to do. I knew that getting into a relationship was something out of the question for her at the moment, however, every moment I saw her, my only desire was to throw her against the nearest wall and kiss her.

“Do you know what costume you’re going to wear?” I asked, trying to distract myself from carrying out my thoughts.

“I do.”

“And what it is…?”

“A surprise.”

I laughed weakly.

“We're going to be in a men's fraternity, don't forget, beautiful.” Kendra looked at me, curious.

“I'm glad I only like women...” And she got closer, teasing me. “And right now I just want you.”

I let out a needy noise, urging her on.

“What a determined woman.”

“Yeah, generally we sapphics are like that, Roni.”

“Hm, good to know, Ken.”

“Kendra!” Colleen called the blonde, coming close to both of us and placing her hand on her waist. “Please don't fight again.”

We both looked at each other and laughed. I understood the source of Colleen's concern, but that was no longer the reality we faced. Subtly, Kendra placed her hand over mine and squeezed.

“Don't worry, we're friends now.”

I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from bursting into laughter. We were friends who fucked.

“Keeping the peace treaty for the team!” I joked, but Colleen didn't seem too convinced. She was just as suspicious of things as Kendra.

A few more minutes passed before Karlee determined the training session was over. I got up from the ground lazily, already reconsidering the heeled boots I had planned to wear.

“See you at 8pm to go to the party?” I asked Ken, who agreed. I smiled weakly and placed a kiss on her cheek. “Okay, see you…”

And I went to get my bag.

“Be quiet, or I'll make a mistake with this thing and I'll end up staining our sofa...” Troian complained while making a peculiar face as she tried to concentrate on the task I had asked for helpwith. “Tell me again, why did you decide that a costume full of fake blood would be a good idea?”

“I never thought it would be a good idea, I just thought it was too iconic for me to never do it.” And it was true. My choice had been for pure feminine cultural impact.
