Story: Pretty Poison
“Excuse me?”
But Evans didn't seem like he was going to get the absurd idea out of his head.
“In Belinda, you are a single team, and you will need to trust each other, so let's start this shock treatment now” he stated.“Kendra?” He pointed to the blonde, and she nodded. “And Veronica, right?” I also just nodded. “I want Veronica to fall back, and if you don't catch her, Kendra, 50 push-ups. And we will keep trying.”
“This is like a children's religious retreat thing” Kendra complained.
“Then consider me the pastor of unity between mean girls” Evans replied. “Come on, I don't have all day and neither do you.”
I positioned myself with my back to Kendra and took a deep breath, mentally praying that the motherfucker wouldn't let me fall. I didn't want to break my hip or hit my head.
I moved my shoulders and then let my body fall backwards.
I ended up feeling her hands grabbing me around my waist and I relaxed a little, then stood back up.
Evans smiled at both of us.
“Great, now Kendra will fall and Veronica will hold on.”
I turned to face her while the blonde turned her back to me. And she did the same as me, falling over. I held her and saw her releasing the breath she was holding when that happened. This was the biggest proof that we didn't trust each other. We were both tense to do something silly.
“Perfect. Again!”
And we repeated the damn exercise at least ten times each. I couldn't say the silly exercise calmed us down, though.
We still hated each other. I still found her despicable. And I was sure that if she could, she would set me on fire, but for half an hour, we pretended that none of that was important. At least in front of Evans and Karlee.
VERONICA:“Hey, I just left the practice. Where are you?"
Sometimes, MJ frustrated me, especially when he ignored me, even though we had plans. Sweat accumulated on my body and my hair was disgusting, but after years in a relationship, it was normal that we had seen each other in deplorable situations, so everything was fine. I was more worried about finding out why he wasn't answering me than I was worried about my appearance.
The rest of the team was starting to leave the training center and I followed the flow out. However, when the crowd began to dissipate, I began to feel more irritation taking over me.
“Hey...” Troian caught my attention. “We’regonnagrab something to eat with the girls, don't you want to come?”
I stared at the people she was referring to and, obviously, Kendra was in the middle. I declined.
“I promise not to poison your food!” Kendra announced without much patience.
“I'm waiting for Martin.”
An expression of disbelief came over her.
“Are you still with him? “The question carried a slight disdain.
If I hadn't been so tired, I might have punched her in the face at that exact moment.
“Yes… at least I have a boyfriend who prevents me from becoming bitter like you.”
Kendra laughed and just turned her back on me, walking away with Colleen and a few other team members. I faced Troian, who was still looking at me hopefully.
“I was serious, I'm waiting for my boyfriend. You can go, I will be fine...”
My roommate agreed and gave me a quick hug before following the flock. I sighed when I found myself alone, waiting in the parking lot. Maybe I could take out all the tension Kendra put me through on MJ when he arrived. I was still deciding whether to hit him or use his dick as a tranquilizer.
The minutes accumulated on the clock and passed faster than I could have imagined. When I realized, I was exhausted and had been waiting for my boyfriend for over an hour.
The sound of footsteps and talking distracted me from my frustration when Karlee and Evans left the T.C. (training center) sometime later. The coach looked at me, curious.
