Story: Pretty Poison

“Of course, right away!”

I thanked her, but she had already disappeared to go to the freezer. The bar was crowded and many people were making orders to the other bar tenders, so I just turned back to the dance floor, leaning against the counter as I faced Veronica.

I was in love with that girl.

There was always a shadow of admiration on my part for the athlete she was, but I never thought that this secret admiration could grow into something so intense and unique. Not even Delilah managed to have that effect on me. Never.

“Here's your water." I turned and took the bottle from Hayley's hands.

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome, birthday girl.” I laughed at the nickname. “Hey, can I give you some advice?”

My honest intention was to say no, but it was already a little tipsy and I decided to give in: “Go ahead.”

“Don't let her go for fear of being yourself.”

A grimace grew on my face.

“What are you talking about?” I played dumb.

“You know…” She whispered . “She's your special someone, your person, and it's visible to every idiot in this room. I know it makes you want to hide in a place where you can put it off for as long as you can, but, Kendra, to love is to shout to the world, and she makes you want to shout. The tension and lust between you are palpable...” I faced Veronica on the dance floor. This time, she looked at me carefully. “I don't know when the moment will be, but when it comes, please don't whisper. Shout.”

I turned my attention to Hayley one last time, touching her hand and squeezing it over the counter gently as a silent thank you and then I went back to my girl.

Troian's body simply fell onto the bed like dead weight. I looked at Veronica a little worried.

“Are you sure she's alive?” And as if the almost fainted girl heard me, a deep breath escaped her as she adjusted herself better on the covers.

“Yeah, I’m positive.”

Veronica arranged her on the bed, leaving the empty trash can next to her in case she threw up. Then we left the room. Finally alone with her, I was able to smile, even with tiredness engulfing me.

“So… did you like the surprise party?” Roni questioned, letting her fingers intertwine with mine.

“I loved it! I wasn't really expecting you to know about my birthday.”

“Colleen told me, because... if I waited for you I would never know.”

I shrugged.

“I'm not a fan of birthday’s celebrations, that's all.” It was the truth.

“Well, I'm happy that you allowed yourself to celebrate the date with me and with several people who really like you.”

I agreed because, in the end, the balance was positive. I enjoyed celebrating with everyone at karaoke.

“And you know, I still have one last gift...” Veronica's tone changed, making her ulterior motives more explicit.

“Oh, yeah?!”

She brought her face closer to mine, letting me drink in her perfume and become intoxicated with it.

“Yes...” And her lips attached themselves to mine.

The kiss, slow as an autumn night, but hot as the height of summer, made every cell in my body wake up again. My breasts immediately became engorged for her and I had to press my legs together a little.

Carefully, Veronica led us to her room and I soon found myself being thrown onto her bed. And even though Roni was smaller than me, her strength was enough to make me fall quite stiffly on the mattress, something I adored.
