I must still be drunk because Auburn just kissed me like she was rewriting the laws of the universe. She’d laid her soul bare, and having tasted it again, nothing—and no one—could ever compare to the way it was when she was on top of me.
With her grinding on me, I knew she could feel my rock-hard cock against her…
“Wait…” I pulled back, and her swollen strawberry lips turned me on even more. “Are you wearing shorts?”
She gave me a wry smile. “No.”
“Fuckkk, Sunshine,” I growled.
I wasn’t sure how we went from her crying onto the carpet to dry humping my leg and if I was supposed to, as her friend, comfort her; but when she mounted me, all bets were off.
She shrugged off her cardigan, and her nipples peaked under the thin fabric.
“Give me an escape, Ledger.” She all but begged me. I didn’t fully grasp her meaning, but I sensed she wanted to break down our barriers.
“But…” Dammit, as much as it pained me, I needed to be the voice of reason here, even if it seemed like I wasn’t the only one who had been drinking tonight. “We have to stay just friends.”
“Fuck that.” Oh, no she did not. “I want you.”
No. No. No. Sunshine. I groaned inwardly.
You shouldn’t have said that. Every primal instinct surged within me, setting my bones on fire. It was the same raw energy that surged through me whenever I saw an opponent targeting our team on the ice. That same intensity filled the room, and once the switch turned, it was so hard for me to flip it off.
“I won’t be able to forget you said that, Sunshine,” I murmured, dropping my hand into her curls. They were so bouncy in a bun on the top of her head.
“Don’t forget it, then,” she whispered into the crook of my neck.
“The team.” Again, here I was, trying to be the rational one. If Alex could see me, he’d be laughing hysterically.
She leaned in, tilting her head so our foreheads touched. “Just let it be us, Ledger. Right now, it’s just you and me and nobody else. Tomorrow, we can go back to being friends.”
Her warmth pressed against my skin, our breaths mingling together. She wanted this moment, this connection, and I understood the significance of it. “If you feel unsafe at any point, you use the word…sun, that’s your safe word.”
She nodded, her eyes searching mine for reassurance. This was a step into the unknown, a leap of faith, but I wanted to give her that safety, that trust. So I let my guard down, allowing her into the depths of my vulnerability, where only she was allowed.
“Give me…everything,” she begged.
Those three words cracked something deep within me. That switch was flipped so deeply there was no coming back.
I dropped my mouth to hers, but this time, it wasn’t pretty. I wanted her mouth all over mine, swollen and freshly fucked.
