"You want me to lie to all the hotties that are fighting after you?" she asks as if talking to them will actually be hard work.

"Yep. Just bat your eyelashes at them and send them on their way."

"Ugh, it sucks but I guess someone has to do it."

"You're a nut."

She shrugs.

"Thank you, Ella. I really appreciate everything."

"Anytime. Call me if you need me."

I smile at her before slipping into my room and flipping the lock with the intention of not emerging until class tomorrow morning.

Thankfully, I managed to get to my room last night before Devin appeared and demanded to know more about what the hell that was all about. Not that he was complaining as he got his rocks off to my girl writhing against the wall.

The thought of him seeing her like that, on top of Luca and Leon already experiencing it this weekend makes my fists curl as I sit on the bench in the locker room after our afternoon practice.

Most of the guys have already left and I know I need to follow them but I'm struggling to find the motivation to head home when all I want to do is go and find her for a repeat of last night.

A door opening on the other side of the locker room drags my gaze from the floor. My teeth grind the second my eyes lock on to Luca's angry ones.

Not only was he dragged into Coach's office after our session this morning but his barely restrained anger as we ran plays this afternoon ended with him having another visit.

I take in the bruise on his cheek and he doesn't miss the move.

"You wanna go again, Legend?" he asks, holding his hands out to his sides.

"Like you wouldn't fucking believe. But, you've already got Coach on your ass," I say, choosing to see him as my captain not my enemy at that moment.

He quickly looks over his shoulder and lets out a breath as the tension between us mounts.

The few guys that are still in here all seem to have stopped what they're doing to watch us.

"You're wrong for her, you know that, right?" he growls, taking a step toward me.

"That's not for you to decide."

"You're hurting her."

I push to stand when he closes the space between us needing to be eye to eye with him.

"And you're not?"

His lips part to respond but he must realize that I'm right.

"You're fucking ripping her apart right now. You can blame this all on me as much as you like but you claim to be her best friend and you've been anything but since she came here. You don't like me, fine. I won't lose any fucking sleep over that. But she fucking needs you, you asshole." It pains me to say the words, but it's the truth. "You don't even know why she's here. You're too focused on what's up here—" I slap him across the head, unable to keep my hands to myself.

His jaw tics as he steps closer again, putting us nose to nose.

"Luc," a familiar voice says from behind him. "It's not worth it."

"He fucking deserves it."
