"Okay, yeah. I guess you might have a point."
"Our future starts here, Scarlett. We can do and be whatever the fuck we want, together."
She lowers her head to my non-wounded shoulder and sucks in a shuddering breath.
"Letty?" I ask, concern flooding me that I just said something wrong.
She gives herself a second before she pulls her head away and looks up at me. Her eyes are full of unshed tears that she tries to blink away.
"I-I can't wait, Kane. I want this, I want you."
"Fuck, I love you, Scarlett Hunter."
My lips find hers before I have to see the conflicted look on her face every time I tell her those words. I know she feels it, I see it in her eyes every time she looks at me, I feel it in her every touch but for some reason, she's holding the words back. I want to be okay with it and give her the time she needs. Hell, I understand after all the shit I've thrown her way over the years but the selfish asshole that I am, I need to hear them. I need to know she really is mine in every single way.
We kiss for long minutes before she takes both of my hands and leads me into the stall where she very carefully washes every inch of me and is very careful not to get my wound wet. She's the perfect nurse, well, until she gets on her knees and pays my cock extra attention once more, then she's just my dirty little whore all over again and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Letty
"He's got a fucking torture chamber in his basement, Kane. Tell me you don’t think that's fucking insane," I damn near squeal as we drive away from Reid's house later that day.
I thought I was seeing things when I looked out of the window and saw my car sitting in Reid's driveway, but it seemed that while I was with Kane, keeping him… entertained, that we missed the other Harrises visit to drop my car off for me.
I see Kane shrug out of the corner of my eye as we pass through the massive set of gates and pull out onto the road. "Yeah, it's weird. But it's Reid. He's all kinds of fucked up," he says like I've just discovered he's got a tennis court in his home or something, not a place where he literally tortures people, to death probably, but I figure I'm better off not having that confirmed.
"Who else does he have down there?"
Kane chuckles. "Honestly, I don't know. They could all be full or all empty—"
"Aside from Alana," I butt in.
"Yeah, aside from her. That's Reid's Hawk business. The less I know, the better." I glance over at him sensing that he's not being entirely honest with me but I decide to let it go. I really don’t want to know. It's bad enough that I now know it exists and that he's keeping Alana down there like a pet.
I might have disliked her from the second she wrapped her hands around my man outside the stadium the other weekend but still, I wouldn't wish that kind of life on anyone. I can only tell myself that she deserves it and hope that Reid isn't a total monster with her.
As if he can read my mind, Kane reaches over and squeezes my thigh as I drive. "I wouldn't worry about Alana, baby. Something tells me she's enjoying her time down there."
"What are you—no," I say, cutting myself off. "I don't want to know. I'm just going to forget he even has a basement."
"Probably for the best. She's not going to bother us again."
"Do you think she genuinely liked you?" I have no idea why I ask that question, it's not like I actually want to know the answer but my mouth runs away with me.
"I have no idea. I think she liked the idea of us but I think her life is more complicated than we can appreciate. I'm just glad not to be in the middle of it anymore."
"Same."
"I'm gonna miss the guys, obviously. They've been my friends since we were kids, but the life… I'm so done with anything to do with the Creek."
I glance over at him and smile, loving to listen to him open up properly.
It's easy to see the difference in him already since he woke up yesterday afternoon. I don't think I really appreciate just how stressed he was with everything he was dealing with. Looking at him now, bruises and swelling aside, he looks like an entirely different man.
"Same," I admit after a silent few seconds. "Well, aside from my dad, obviously."
"Reid's working on that."
