Drew thought he was stunning. He’d just called Shay stunning.
Okay, question. Shay could answer questions. He was good at answering questions.
He cleared his throat hoping his voice didn’t come out squeaky, which would just be the icing on the embarrassing cake.
“I have a test on Monday, and I figured the kitchen would be a quiet place to study.”
Shay thought about what he said and realized he was in someone’s home, someone he didn’t even know, maybe even the man before him, and he was invading their kitchen.
“I asked first,” Shay added, “when I came in earlier, Miss Jean, that was her name, she said it was fine.”
“Miss Jean runs the house. If she says it is fine, then it is,” Drew assured Shay in a soothing voice.
“So why aren’tyouenjoying the party then?” Shay managed to ask. He couldn’t help but wonder what Drew’s excuse was. He seemed…looked like someone who would do extremely well in a party setting.
Drew let out a sigh, “I’ve been traveling all day, just got in a couple of hours ago and I came straight here. It’s my very good friend’s,” the alpha paused, “actually, scratch that, one of my best friend’s party.”
“That’s so nice, you must be a very good friend to go out of your way like that,” Shay said, looking at Drew from beneath his lashes.
When Shay studied the alpha closer, he could see the exhaustion in the other man’s eyes.
“He’s one of the best,” Drew replied. “I could have missed it, and he would have understood.”
“So why didn’t you?” Shay asked.
“Well it’s his thirtieth and I was in town,” Drew shrugged, “he would do it for me.”
“It’s nice to have good friends,” Shay said, for lack of anything to add.
“The only problem is I’m knackered, and, would love to go to sleep for a whole day,” the alpha let out a yawn that drew Shay’s attention to the strong column of his throat.
The man’s voice interrupted his thoughts about licking….
“Although, now, after meeting you, sleep is the last thing on my mind,” Drew said.
“It is?” Shay whispered.
“It is, because I feel like if I go to sleep and wake up, this will have all been a dream. Meeting you I mean…”
A flush crept up from Shay’s neck to his face and he couldn’t stop the blush, “I think if you have to go to sleep and wake up, then it can’t be a dream, cause you’re already awake.”
The beautiful alpha grinned, “Smart too. I like that.”
Shay bit his lip, unsure of what to say to that. He wasn’t any good at flirting, he’d never really learned, or had to, so he figured silence was the way to go.
“Dance with me,” Drew whispered, his voice deep, his arms outstretched to Shay, almost like he was in a trance. Shay took the alpha’s hand, and left his books behind, letting himself be led them out of the kitchen to the living room.

Drew
Drew took Shay’s hand in his and led him to a corner of Nic’s front room.
Shay.
What a beautiful name, for a truly stunning creature, was all Drew could think. Drew wanted Shay with a swiftness that should have scared him, especially because he didn’t just mean physically.
More than ever he was glad that he was unattached, because he would have never cheated on Anneliese—that wasn’t who he was—but meeting Shay today felt like fate, and if he’d been seeing someone else, he would have never been able to make a move.
