Even though his brain tried telling him that this was a bad idea, he didn't listen. He was back in Drew's arms.

Shay tried telling himself he wasn't the same gullible fool as before, that he could sleep with Drew and keep his feelings under wraps. All his brain was screaming was sex, sex, sex, and his body seemed to approve the message.

This time there would be no words of affection. Shay wouldn't start planning their future family... they already had that anyway. He wouldn't imagine picnics in the park, and weekends spent in bed while sharing their life stories.

That was what Shay had imagined the proposed weekend getting to know Drew would be like. He'd had this stupid movie montage playing in his head. More fool him though. But, not this time... he would never forget hearing Drew's phone ringing in his pants pocket. Shay would never forget watching the alpha as he slept. He'd seen how tired Drew was, and their vigorous lovemaking hadn't helped, so when he'd felt Drew stirring at the insistent ringing, the third call from the person, Shay had carefully gotten out of bed and answered the phone in a hushed tone.

The person on the phone, a woman, had asked to speak to Drew, asked who was speaking. She’d thought Drew was on a ranch in Wyoming. She’d thought Shay was one of the men that worked there with him.

She'd told Shay to tell Drew to call her back, please. That she missed him, and couldn’t wait to see him when he got back.

When Shay had asked who she was, she'd informed him that she was Drew's girlfriend, she'd gone on chattering away, even going as far as asking Shay if he thought she should come up and surprise Drew. That Drew's mom told her that sometimes couples had fallings out, and how she hoped they would be engaged soon.

Shay had listened to her speak numbly. He wasn't even sure what he'd said throughout the conversation, but he'd never forgotten Anneliese's side, or her name… Anneliese...

Shay hadn't bothered getting back into the bed, thankfully, it was already morning, and when he'd gone downstairs there were cleaners tidying up from the party. Shay hadn't met their eyes as he packed up his backpack and did his first and last walk of shame.

Shay broke the kiss, and his hand came up and touched his now bruised lips. His eyes held Drew’s, “What are you doing?” he whispered, in an unsteady voice, his pulse racing, his senses heightened, body straining to get closer, even though Shay knew he should take a step back and out of Drew’s embrace.

“Kissing you,” Drew replied, "And I believe you were kissing me right back."

“We shouldn’t,” Shay said.

“Then step out of my arms,” Drew replied, softly. “If you can do it, then step out of my arms, because I can tell you that I can't seem to let you go.”

Shay sighed,Fuckity, fuck, fuck.

Why did this man have Drew's gullible button? Why did he know just what to say to make Shay a puddle, and why the fuck wasn't Shay telling him to shove it where the sun didn't shine?

As mortified as Shay was by his reaction to Drew, it didn't stop every nerve in his body from going on alert at his fingers sliding down Shay's arm.

Before he was too far gone to do what he should have done the first time around, Shay asked, "You're single, right?"

Drew’s brow furrowed, like he couldn't understand where the question was coming from. Shay managed to put a little space between them. It wasn't much, but at least their very aroused cocks weren't touching.

"Are you single?" Shay repeated, "Is there a Mr. or Mrs. Walker-Thompson? Or a significant other I should know about?"

Drew tilted his head to the side, and look like he was considering Shay, "There's no one. Hasn't been in a long time."

Even though he'd told himself that Drew hadn’t been celibate during their time apart, it still caught him in his chest hearing there had been people. Shay had waited and waited to see something about a wedding announcement from Drew and Anneliese. None had come, but he knew super-rich people had ways of making sure their business wasn't made public.

Shay nodded, "Good."

"Is there someone I should worry about?" Shay didn't miss how Drew's whole body tensed at the question. He even lifted his eyes and looked around the house. What did the man think? That there was an alpha lurking in the background.

"There's no one," Shay replied. He almost added, “there never has been,” but he wasn't giving Drew that satisfaction. Nope, never.

Even with all the feelings... anger, betrayal, and everything in between, Shay's pulse was going a mile a minute. He could feel the beginnings of his hole getting slick and ready, just because he was in Drew's arms again.

Shay was bombarded with a wave of suppressed sensations and memories, but as only Drew could, he had flipped them on again with a single kiss.

His body arched, pressing into the hard heat of Drew’s body. Shay could feel Drew’s arousal pressing into him as the alpha sealed their lips together again, deepening the kiss—if that was even possible.

Shay gave as good as he got, meeting Drew’s tongue. He poured out his anger, his frustration, his sadness into the kiss, but most of all it was this all-consuming hunger that Drew had awakened in him.

All the years of celibacy probably didn’t hurt either. Drew's hands slipped down inside Shay’s sweats, his hands cupping Shay’s ass and squeezing. Drew pushed Shay’s sweats down, and Shay stepped out of them. The alpha lifted him like he weighed nothing, his hands beneath Shay’s ass. Drew turned caging Shay between the wall and his body, his hands kneading the globes of Shay’s ass, making Shay moan and deepen the kiss further. When Drew’s finger grazed over Shay’s hole, all he could do was push back needily. Gods, he wanted to feel it, feel the alpha inside of him again.

“So beautiful,” Drew broke the kiss, “Only ever like this with you… no one else. So responsive, so hot for me. Just for me.”
