Page 36 of Unforgettable Omega
Drew knew he should just get over Shay. Co-parent with him, and forget whatever it was that was between them, but since he’d tried forgetting during the past few years and failed, he was alpha enough to admit that Shay was the only man, the only person who could give him what he wanted.
The night they spent together was permanently etched in his mind, and had cast a shadow over every encounter that had followed. Drew knew it wasn’t just about the sex. There was just something about Shay that drew him in. The sex? Well, that was just the icing on a very decadent cake.
Drew just wanted his family, and he was more than willing to do what was necessary to make that happen. Maybe if he and Shay could actually spend time alone together he could remind Shay what it was like when they were together. Even now, with their son between them as a buffer, the air crackled with the attraction between them.
Not only that, the times that Shay managed to let his guard down around Drew, they’d had some laughs, until he realized it was Drew he was laughing with, then he would clam right up again.
Maybe Drew was hoping for too much, but he still hoped, because it was a vacation together, where they could really get to know each other, and maybe remember how magical it was between them when they’d gotten together.
It had felt like they were the only two people left in the world.
Drew had tried telling himself over and over that they’d been nothing more than a one-night stand, but that lie hadn’t held up very well. Especially, because he’d had one-night stands before, and he’d always walked away without looking back.
Sometimes it pained him to admit that after all this time he still wanted Shay, and he knew that it was foolish maybe to hope that they could somehow pick up where they’d left off, but he would rather be sure that there was nothing there anymore. Especially since he’d been holding on to what had been for so long.
Maybe all that would come of this trip was closure, but closure meant he could go to sleep without being haunted by Shay’s face. His smile. The way his body responded to Drew’s. The way he’d looked at Drew that night.
If closure was all he got, then maybe he could move on and stop pining after an omega who had no problem walking out on him the first time.
Or maybe you end up with the life you saw the first time you looked into Shay’s eyes.

Drew was burstingwith excitement as he drove his brand new car towards Shay’s home. It was the brand new Audi Q7, and he’d bought it after searching the internet for family luxury SUVs.
It was ridiculous, because he already had cars at his house he could have used, but somehow buying this made him feel like a proper dad.
Like he said, it was stupid, but when he fitted his son’s new car seat––actually, he was pretty sure the people at the store had called it a booster seat since Andy was a bit older––that he had bought specifically for this car, and set up the mobile wi-fi he’d made sure to get, so that Andy could stream his shows in the car, it just made him feel so happy and domestic.
And who knew that was a feeling he would crave?
Drew looked behind him and breathed out in relief that he had remembered to pack headphones, because there was no way he wanted to listen to his son's tv shows again. He’d learned that lesson. The repetitive singing of kid tv shows was enough to drive anyone crazy.
Drew pulled up in front of Shay’s home, and before he could even turn the car off, the door opened and his little boy ran out.
Shay shouted for Andy to stop, but his son kept running, so Drew quickly jumped out of the car and picked Andy up before he gave his papa a heart attack.
A breathless Shay came out of the house holding a backpack, a rolling suitcase and a smaller one. He also had a bucket and shovel, and an iPad under his armpit.
Drew quickly opened the back door and put Andy in his booster seat and belted him in, then hurried over to Shay, who was making slow progress with everything in his hands.
Shay looked up at him and gave a tired smile, “Thanks.”
“My pleasure,” Drew replied, “I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but you look wiped.”
“You can thank your son for that. He’s been excited ever since I told him we were going away. He barely got any sleep, then I had to pack, and by the time I was done, he was awake asking if it was time to go.”
Drew smiled, “Well, let’s get these in the car for you and maybe you can sleep on our way down.”
“If your child lets me,” Shay sighed.
“Don’t worry. I have everything needed to distract him.”
“Thinking like a parent now I see,” Shay teased.
“I guess that’s what happens when you are a parent.”
Shay had a wistful smile on his face, “Yeah, I definitely had some learning curves at the start. I’d never even held a baby before they placed him in my arms.”
