Drew figured that was what he called Shay’s parents, so he nodded, “Yes just like that, but those are Papa’s parents, and these are mine.”

Drew wasn’t sure if his son understood what he was saying, but he seemed to understand the grandparents part, because when Drew’s mom reached for Andy, his son went into her arms happily.

His mom was a tall woman, built sturdy, so, like Drew, she could hold her grandchild. When she saw Andy reaching out for her, she dropped the gifts in her arms on the table, the one he and Shay had dined on almost a week ago now, and stretched her arms out to Andy. The smile on her face damn near blinding, even though there were tears in her eyes.

“Oh son, he’s perfect. Look at him. It’s like looking at you at that age.”

His mom was smiling and crying at the same time.

Andy, his sweet son, tapped his mom's face, “Papa said only cry when sad. You sad?”

“No sweet boy, I’m so happy to meet you. Grandma isveryhappy to meet you,” Drew’s mom said.

Drew watched as his parents fell in love with his son.

He glanced to the side and saw Shay hovering. Drew walked over to stand beside Shay. He put his hand on Shay’s waist, “Mom, dad, this my… I mean, Andy’s dad, Shay.”

His mom gave Drew a calculating look, probably catching the slip where he’d almost called Shay his.

“Nice to meet you, Shay.” His dad came forward first, arms outstretched. Drew watched as Shay breathed out a sigh, and managed a smile as he took his dad’s hand.

His mom walked towards them, Andy still in her arms. She handed him over to Drew’s dad. Drew wasn’t sure what was about to happen, but what happened next shocked both him and Shay.

Drew’s mom wrapped Shay in a big hug and squeezed him tight. She even whispered something in his ear that had Shay nodding and smiling.

When she stepped back, Shay gave her a watery smile and wiped his eyes.

“Who’s ready to open presents?” His dad said, breaking the serious moment.

Andy didn’t have to be asked twice, his hands shot up, making everyone smile.

“Well, young man, let’s see what Grandma and Granddad brought for you.” Drew’s dad went back to the table and pulled his chair out, taking a seat in front of the mountain of gifts that Drew swore had somehow doubled.

His parents' visit went great, and they both loved Andy and Shay very much. His mom wanted to take Andy home with her. And even though Drew had asked them to stay—they certainly had more than enough room—they’d refused. They told him they’d gotten a suite in town.

Before leaving, his mom had told Shay that she was available to babysit anytime. And even though Drew had pointed out that she didn’t live in the city anymore, she’d pointed out they had a helicopter that could have her there in thirty minutes.

Shay had hugged his mom and thanked her, and promised he would take her up on the offer for sure.

His mom and dad had given Drew an earful when he’d walked them out to their car.

“He’s so young, son. How old was he when he had Andy?” His mom asked.

“Nineteen or so,” Drew replied. That made him realize he needed to actually ask Shay his birthday.

“Nineteen,” His mom gasp, “he was a child. Andrew Thompson, how could you?”

The truth was Drew hadn’t really told his parents about Shay. At least not the part about them spending just one night together.

“We broke up, it’s complicated mom, I didn’t know,” Drew defended himself.

“Andrew Lawrence Walker-Thompson.”

Drew flinched being called by his full name by his mom. No matter how old he got, he still knew what it meant. And it was never good.

“We’re figuring it out mom,” Drew tried.

“Do you know what it means for an omega to have your baby that young? Oh the poor child, I can’t imagine what he’s been through. He’s a good one too because that boy could have come at you for child support years ago. Clearly, it’s not about the money,” his mom said. Her hands were on her chest, and she looked towards the house. Drew wouldn’t have been surprised if she’d gone and given Andy a hug.
