“But don’t tell Snake. You know how pouty jealous he gets.”
“Snake doesn’t count. You can’t be best friends with someone you’ve slept with.”
Wrong. He would do a lot more than sleep with her, and she would still claim him as her best friend. He guaranteed it.
“How do you know I’ve slept with him?”
“Please. Do you think you’re the only watchful one around here? I see how close you two are. It’s not sexual, but you’re close, like you know each other’s secrets. It can only mean you’ve bumped uglies in the past.”
The beast within was starved as she stated her facts, with only a hint of jealousy in her eyes. He could tell her she didn’t need to be jealous of anyone.
Snake included.
Jay especially.
Lawless shared countless bodies and had done a lot of shit to those willing bodies, which would set Angela’s hair on fire, but what was brand new and all hers was this tapping in his chest.
That belonged solely to her.
He was fucking ravenous.
Wanting a woman he should never have even taken a second look at.
They were a tragedy in the making, but ask Lawless if he would make a different decision where she was concerned, and his answer would always be the same.
“I know all your secrets and haven’t bumped your uglies.” He smirked, and some of Angela’s feistiness returned when she scowled and poked him in the chest. “Don’t be funny. I’m mad at you.”
Lawless kicked up a brow.
“You left me again. Two whole days and I didn’t know where you were.”
Her fear was confirmed; she thought he’d abandoned her. Again.
That’s when she started crying again. Not great sobs this time, but the tears flowed down her cheeks as fast as she tried to wipe them away.
“I hated not knowing where you were.”
“I tried calling. Your phone was switched off.”
“I was pissed off and angry. If you wanted to leave again, then I didn’t care.”
She cared too fucking much, and that’s when Lawless swung her off his lap and laid Angela down in the corner part of the couch.
He came down over her and watched as she gasped when he cupped her face, their noses nearly touching. “I had something to do, but I was never leaving. Sometimes I have to get shit done, you understand?”
She bobbed her head, the tears drying up, but she avoided his gaze. “It’s none of my business.”
A growl rolled up his throat for her bullshit, timid reply.
Angela wasn’t timid.
She was outspoken, bossy, and demanding. She’d demanded his attention for years and got it without even trying.
“Everything is your business. But I haven’t put things down in words you would understand, so here it is. I’ve taken ownership of you, angel. You’re mine, in every sense you can think of. I own your thoughts, feelings, and tears. Every bit of pleasure that will pump through this sinful body belongs to me. You get it?”
Her eyes were wet, but they rounded wider, and she bit on her lower lip, giving a full-body shiver when Lawless reached beneath her thin cotton tank shirt and rested a hand on her stomach. She shuddered again, and he knew he’d relish in pulling those reactions out of her. He’d work her over so long, so hard, until she thought she couldn’t take it another second, begging with her little words, probably cursing him out, too.
Stroking her stomach, he waited.
