Next, Angela didn’t think about it when she laid her lips on Lawless. She did it hard, closed-lipped, and fast. Then turned a fake smile on the chippy, who was slacked-jawed at the scene in front of her.
Good, Angela hoped she’d shocked the fuck out of the submissive fish.
Yeah, she knew what he called his playthings. She’d hated it, and at one time, she only wished she could be one of his fish, too. Except now, she was his woman, and she wouldn’t stand idly by while an ex-lover made a scene.
“Hey, hon. I didn’t catch your name, but that doesn’t matter because you are Bar Icy’s prize winner of the day. So yeah, you get to leave without being covered in bruises, but the prize only lasts for the next ten seconds, so I’d think fast.”
Angela slung an arm around Lawless’ shoulder. The man didn’t react. Not one thing to show what he was thinking, and she didn’t dare glance his way.
Snake chuckled.
Preacher belly laughed.
“I don’t... I.” the chippy stammered and sent eyes to Lawless, making Angela even more furious and territorial.
“Time’s ticking. Four seconds.”
Angela had never fought in her life. Middle school scrapes didn’t count, and any issues in high school she had bikers rolling up to the school to scare the bejesus out of kids and faculty. So, she hoped this woman made the right decision.
“I better go. Bye, Lawless, thanks for the advice.” The chippy said and left with haste.
Advice? What was that all about?
“I wasn’t even gonna drop by today. Thank fuck I did,” laughed Snake, “would have hated to miss this show.”
Angela ignored Lawless’ friend because she was staring at him. “I don’t appreciate your former sex partners being strewn all over you in public.” She hissed.
Still not a flicker of reaction from Lawless as he asked. “Is it okay in private?”
Oh, that was it. She was going to rip his fucking face off.
“The enforcer has a death wish,” she heard from the table close by.
Okay, he might be Lawless, the most brilliant genius in the world, but he was still a man and therefore needed things spelled out with paltry words.
“I don’t appreciate your ex toys being draped all over you at any point, especially when I’m there to see you do nothing about it. You lost your shit when I hugged Josh.”
“Joshua Muller is a tool,” he answered, only angering her more.
“Josh ismyfriend, and I haven’t banged him from one end of Colorado to the other.”
She watched his eyes turn darker, lids falling low, and they crackled and burned with heat. He didn’t touch her, but her skin responded in the same way as if he had. And now, sitting on his lap in a public place made her think it was a terrible idea.
Stupid spontaneous territorial mistake.
She’d gone from epic forest sex to mortification in only a few short hours.
Happy freaking birthday, girl.

There was no disguising the burn of jealousy in those dark eyes.
It practically pulsed out of her as she’d strode across the bar like a woman on a mission.
And she was fucking glorious.
If not for her shy sensibilities, listening to what her body needed, he would have fucked her on the floor for the way she’d storm across to him, reading something into a situation that was nothing.
