Page 13 of Darling Psycho
Of course, she’d played Judge. She’d no doubt discovered his guard duty too and played him at his own deceit.
Smart little brat.
It didn’t negate Judge fucking up and how he’d have to pay for it, eventually.
At home, he put his bare feet up on the balcony barrier, the tablet on his knees after coming off a call with one of his underground contacts.
Now he knew all he needed to know about Jay’s dalliances. He’d be pissed the fuck off if he knew not all of his people were loyal to him. Rancid meat was pitifully easy to buy off for a bit of info.
Was it a wonder Lawless trusted so few when everyone had a price to stab you in the back?
A few taps on the screen, and he sat back in the padded chair, a familiar scratch under his skin like he had mice running riot in his nervous system as the air expelled his lungs.
Monsters and their secrets.
He was about to set one of his free in the night sky.
Let it breathe and go up like a fucking gasoline-infused inferno.
His pulsed increased with a staccato mess.
His veins were too tight.
And he was every bit the deviant when he started a camera feed to come to life on the screen.
FOUR
“The wait was over.” - Lawless
Lawless could have used many suitable anddecentlies to validate what he was doing.
Hadn’t he lived by thattruthmany times over already?
Oh, yes.
A monster knew the way around a good lie enough to swallow it like venom.
But there was no lie here worth shit.
Not as he watched the color picture, clear as if he were standing in his mountain hideaway, watching Angela walking through the door and bringing light into the wide entryway.
On the logical side of his brain, he knew an ordinary man would feel sick for looking at her as he was. Deeply.Intently. With ownership.
But he had a lot of time to accept he wasn’t normal.
Not by any means.
Not even if he pretended to be.
He was thirty-six years old and accepted his flaws for what they were.
Totally fucking deranged.
But did he stop?
Did he try to halt his wandering thoughts as he watched the tall woman shrug out of her jacket, tossing it across the newel post before kicking off her shoes? Nope, he didn’t even give a token effort switching off the camera feed.
Swiping his finger against the screen, he flipped feeds to another room as she walked through to the kitchen.
