Page 50 of Darling Psycho
She froze like she’d been shot as the man himself strode through the door, locking it behind him.
His eyes caught hers, and she was barraged in mammoth emotion as heat and shame stole her air.
Time stood still. He didn’t move, didn’t react at first.
There wasn’t a hint of emotion etching his face. The man had always been a master at putting up a smokescreen.
His expression tightened. His eyes grew distant and then filled with smoke and fire to make her shake with shock seeing his features change, and that’s when he moved without warning.
Prowling around the island toward her.
On instinct, call it fight or flee, Angela moved. Doing an awkward dance of chase and retreat around the kitchen island.
“W-what are you doing?”
He kept coming.
“What areyoudoing?”
“Stop chasing me, Lawless.”
He smirked like he knew already he made her skin come alive with nervous goosebumps.
Nerves skittered over the surface.
She grew hotter.
It wasn’t a fast stride as he followed her around the island. He was the Michael Myers of Colorado.
Slow. Methodical. A prowling gait of a man who made his own rules, who danced to only a tune he could hear.
With her rapidly beating heart trying to escape from her chest, Angela held out a hand. “Would you quit it? I don’t want you near to get a whiff of whatever biker chaser you’ve been with tonight.”
Right there, as the words flew out of her mouth, was Angela’s jealous truth. As the hours went by and Lawless didn’t come home, she’d plagued her mind with scenarios of women he was with and what he was doing. Each thought made her sicker and sicker.
Ice crawled up her throat at the thought of any—all of those biker chasers having access to Lawless.
He kept coming until he was towering over her when her back hit the coldness of the fridge.
His eyes were like the moon if the moon could get pissed off.
He curled a hand under her chin and tipped her head back, bringing his down a breath away, and Angela wanted to recoil, but the nearest of him would always enthral her, would always make her a little stupid to crawl into his skin and live there.
Her stupid begging heart.
“Why is your heart racing, angel?”
THIRTEEN
“Tasting his badass.” – Lawless
Frozen against the fridge, it was as if her tongue only obeyed him. “A crazy person was stalking me.”
Having him so close, Angela was near to detonation.
She didn’t know if that was murder or orgasm.
Another smirk, this one hotter, lasting only a second before Lawless’ shaved head canted down another inch.
