“You’re a petty sadist,” she smirked, curling feet under her butt. Throughout dinner and watching the computer, she’d moved closer to him. Now they were almost hip to hip, and she felt the heat of his skin along her arm.
Memories of earlier came rushing back. Heating her.
Her tongue went rogue. “Do you do that a lot? With women, I mean. Take ownership.”
She was feeling bold. A little pissed off. And why not. While she was serving drinks, she’d been forced to endure woman after woman drifting over to his table. At one point, Angela thought about setting up traffic lights.
He smirked that devilish grin of his, and her belly clenched and lust hot as the sun bubbled and made itself known.
“Maybe I took possession of something that needed claiming, angel.”
Ughn. She had no comeback to that. His stare was too blistering, and he’d always been egotistically witted.
Angela’s desired hazy brain tried to move through the chaos of her whipping thoughts. She touched his forearm, fascinated by the dark ink-stained into his skin. “When did you get this?”
“Two and a half years ago, give or take.”
“I didn’t know they did tattoos in prison.”
She stroked him like she was trying to tame a magnificent animal. It was an impossible task. Could anyone tame Lawless?
“You can get anything in prison for the right price.”
“What do they mean?” She murmured. And if Angela lived to be two hundred and forty-six and three quarters, she wouldn’t feel another moment of stark shock as when she watched him putting his forearms together, and gloriously detailed spread angel wings became clear. The feathers crawled up his muscled arms, and each detail was precise, as if the wings were flying on his skin.
Her breath sucked through her slack lips.
He had angel wings on his skin.
Angel.
Did it mean something, or was he trying to be religious now?
Her voice sounded strained with emotion when she finally raised her eyes to meet his watchful gaze. “I think you’re a little late to get into the pearly gates, Lawless.”
His mouth smirked. “I have a condo in Hell already, remember? So this is my pass to break into Heaven when it’s time to get you out.”
Laughing, she poked his arm, “that’s the cheesiest thing you’ve ever said.”
And the sweetest. Her heart fluttered.
“Why the wings?”
Their eyes met and held, and Angela felt weak under his stare.
She loved him more, knowing he always gave her the truth.
“I wanted you in my skin. And I needed a reminder of why I was in prison to keep me focused.”
“Penn...” she breathed, unaware she’d used his name until his eyes flared. That’s when Lawless reached out, grabbed her, and crushed their mouths together. The hold made her feel like she was the prey under the attention of a roving predator. And she loved it. Moaning into Lawless’ mouth, she stroked along his arms, touching his wings.
She badly wanted him.
No hesitation.
No pros and cons list danced around her head.
Angela would consider throwing a hissy fit if she didn’t get Lawless inside her soon. It felt as though their lust had been building for days, leading them here as she climbed onto his lap, moaning when he pawed her behind, dragging her closer.
