Page 18 of Darling Psycho
She was the girl who talked to cats and was sleeping in the bed of a man she hated.
Forget a law degree. Angela should switch majors to psychology. She’d have a field day analyzing her brain.
Sleep came easy and dreamless after that.
Of course, it did.
A body-shaking orgasm from an avenging monster who saved her life more than once.
It was what all fairy-tales were made of.

“Freeing an angel from the clutches of a demon.” - Lawless
Walking into the swanky Denver casino, Angela was dressed for sex and seduction.
It was a trick from Roux, who sat at illegal gambling tables all the time and knew how to play sleight of hand with her appearance.
Dressed only in a sleeveless black dress that dipped low in the back, she shivered a little until the warmth of the casino seeped into her skin.
It had been a long week of tests and papers. She’d been inundated with schoolwork, hardly leaving the cabin at all except to grab dinner with Zara, Rider, and the kids. It had been a week since Jay Benz called Angela into the casino, and though the money was good, she was pretty bored with the place.
She’d found out all she could about Benz to relay to Rider.
Not that it was much at all. He kept his business dealings close to his chest. But whatever she overheard, she told Rider.
It had been a stupid idea.
Who did she think she was, the female James Bond?
Angela wanted to contribute, was her truth.
For years now, the MC—Rider and Zara especially had looked out for Angela, taken her under the MC wing, and spying on Benz, a known criminal, had been her way to repay their kindness. But Rider had said more than once he wanted her out. Only her stubbornness kept her coming back. She could work anywhere to earn college money; They had even offered her a server position at Bar Icy.
She knew one day her obstinacy would land her in hot water.
But how else could she repay the debt of their kindness?
The man she was looking for was talking on his phone, sitting at one of the three bars, so she started a slow walk over. Most of the casino staff thought she was sleeping with Benz, and because Angela didn’t care what people said about her, she hadn’t bothered to confirm or deny the claim. The guy was hot, twice her age, and he wore designer everything, tailored for his lean body type, but she’d never once thought to climb into bed with him. She was sure there would be no room in the bed after Jay and his ego climbed in. Anyone looking at Jay would only see a very savvy entrepreneur, a charming one at that. Maybe he was all that, but he was more, too. She felt it. She couldn’t explain why, but danger and secrets lurked all around him, especially in his eyes. So, while she worked by fraudulent means, she’d never say she was close to him.
“There’s my golden girl,” he greeted with a smile.
Not your girl, she wanted to say, but bit down on her tongue. As an alternative, she smiled. “How are you, Jay?”
“Better now, what would you like to drink?”
“You know I’m underage, right?”
He smirked with a little chuckle. “As you’ve told me every time I’ve attempted to ask you for a date. But as I say, life is too short to live by the rules.”
She didn’t think for a second he wanted to date her.
He collected people like beach pebbles. Most nights, she saw him with an entourage of beauties, male and female, and they all seemed to hang off his every word.
In his world, Jay was a big noise.
She didn’t dislike him. His conversational skills were excellent, and he wasn’t a toucher, always a plus in her opinion. But and it was a big but, Angela couldn’t quite say she liked the guy either. It was hard to call him anything other than her boss when she actively spied on him. And for the last few weeks, she’d heard and seen weird talks with the Mexican cartel guy, Julio Ruiz.
