Page 25 of Darling Psycho
There was time now.
He’d waited.
Then why did his skin feel on fire the further away he got?
Probably rabies.
It couldn’t be because he missed her or that he wanted to say a million things to her because that would be altogether too fucking weird for Lawless.
Talk about being out of his deviant comfort zone.
He couldn’t even fucking find the thing with a GPS nailed to his ass.
EIGHT
“The Alaskan cold shoulder.” – Lawless
Pulling up to the MC the following morning, when the ball of fire was barely in the sky, was a homecoming.
His phone rang as he stepped down off his hog, and like last night, he cut off Jay’s call. He’d talk to that annoyance when he was good and ready to talk to him.
Until then, he had a reunion to get to.
Only the prospects were around so far, and they went nuts seeing Lawless.
Then Jed, who was always an early bird, wandered in, having been brought in by a prospect because the old-timer couldn’t grip his bike any longer.
“I heard you were back. It’s great to see you out, Son. You good?”
“I can’t complain. How you been, Jed?”
“Up to no good, as always, but if Helen asks, I’m good as gold.” He smirked. Lawless was never demonstrative, but he liked the guy, always had, so he clapped him on the shoulder, and then he let the older guy talk for the next hour until the brothers started trickling into the clubhouse.
It was a lot of fist-pumping, back-slapping, swearing, and whooping like a King returning from a night at his harem.
He was glad to be back in the skin he felt comfortable in.
Being prisoner 94941 felt all wrong. Like trying to shove a square peg in a round hole, but he’d played the part, and now he could cast it aside.
Three years lost was a drop in the ocean compared to what he wanted.
But the work of a psycho was never over.
Though he’d killed the head of the sex trafficking snake in prison, he wasn’t the only guy. Of fucking course not. There was an entire network of perverts willing to sell sex at a young age, and whether he was aware of it, Jay was about to get himself tangled up in it with Ruiz.
The question was. Did Lawless let him drown?
That was for him to discuss with the boys around the church table, because taking down that twisted organization would take their agreement. He couldn’t go one-man army this time.
Church would come later. Until then, his brothers-in-arms wanted to celebrate his homecoming. So Lawless tossed off his coat, rolled up the Henley sleeves, and creamed Tag at pool. Then he lost to Capone.
The old ladies drifted by the club that day and appeared happy to see him.
They belonged to his brothers, so he’d always protect them. Though, their incessant jabbering made him slink away at a certain point.
One face made Lawless smile when he walked through the door. “Look at this stud,” he joked at Arson, looking better than Lawless had seen him in a long time. The boys kept him abreast of Arson’s treatment and recovery. It appeared to be sticking, especially since he had a little thing glued to his arm. The pair bro-hugged. “Welcome home, man,” Arson grinned. “You won’t know Erin, my old lady. She came on as our house mouse after you went away.”
“Hi,” she said shyly.
