“You should have made sure he was okay,” Angela spoke into his neck.
Lawless grunted. “You’re my priority.”
Jay would be fine. The guy had nine lives.
Lawless wasn’t fine.
He was still pulsating underneath his skin, and when the guys dropped them off at his cabin, he kicked the door closed, ignored the meowing cat, hungry for attention, and strode Angela through to the en suite bathroom in his bedroom, where he dropped her to her feet.
Lawless had her half-stripped down to her underwear when her words penetrated through the noise in his head. “I’m okay, grumpy, shaken up. I didn’t expect to be thrown into a box, but I’m okay.”
He blinked and caught her watching him. “They touched you.” he rasped a reply and finished stripping her clothes. His came off next, and then he powered on the square waterfall showerheads above them.
She already had bruises starting at the top of her arms and scrapes on her knees, and the roar of anger spiked through his white meat.
“Penn, stop that.” She said forcefully, making his eyes drop to hers. “I know what you’re doing. You’re blaming yourself. This is on me. I went with them because I was afraid for you. It’s not your fault.”
He wasn’t there to stop someone from putting their nasty hands on her.
“I’m fine. You can see I’m fine.”
“They touched you,” he growled.
He’d slaughter them into a human paste for putting one bruise on her body.
The anger roared in his head, the water fell over them both, and that’s when he grabbed the soap, sudding his hands. He ran both of them over the bruised arm and then the other as gentle as he could.
As Lawless washed her, she repeated she was okay.
“What is it you say about time? It was only a blip. We’ll forget this. I did everything you taught me, grumpy. I didn’t lose my head.”
His good fucking badass.
Soapy hands swept over her belly, breasts, around the slim column of her throat. He needed to take their touch off her body.
It washisbody.
No one touched her but him and his dirty, murdering hands.
When he heard her hum, his eyes pinged up. “You are always my protector, Lawless. This isn’t your fault. I already know you’ll kill them.”
Towering over her, he brushed Angela’s hair off her face, cupping her cheeks. She didn’t look damaged, and he knew the signs, having looked at this face for years for any little thing wrong with her. She was still wired, that was true, and she’d probably have another crash soon, but she looked fine. “You say it like I bought milk.”
She chuckled. “It’s your love language.”
God help them all if she thought he was being romantic.
He would have broken the whole fucking world if he didn’t get her back, that much he knew.
Whether it was the thought of the world destruction or having her near, Lawless only knew he was hard when a hand curled around his shaft and made him hiss.
“Such an angry grump, aren’t you?” She all but purred as the steam billowed around them. She stroked up and down. “Come on, Penn, use this on me. You know you want to.”
He wanted to nail her to the fucking wall like the pervert he was.
A growl dropped from his lips, and she hummed.
Stroking. Stroking. Stroking.
