"And you?"

Jun Moqing said, "I’ll stay inside the room."

Feng Qingyan paused for a second, considering he often stayed on the roof. In the East Palace, he wouldn’t be at the door, right?

Thinking it over, she let it be,

"You may stay, but don’t climb onto the bed."

Jun Moqing nodded. "Mhm."

Feng Qingyan knew somewhat of Jun Moqing’s character, and with this knowledge, she stood up and went to the bed, lifting the blankets to get in and lie down just then.

She glanced at Jun Moqing, who was at the desk, and then closed her eyes.

In truth, she wasn’t asleep. The presence of a man in the room made her too vigilant to fall asleep quickly.

Jun Moqing sat at the desk, picked up the teacup, and sipped some tea. The tea was somewhat cool, which he didn’t enjoy drinking.

Noticing the even breathing of the person in bed, Jun Moqing then stood up and came to the bedside, slowly sat down, and looked at the person who was already deeply asleep.

He couldn’t help wondering what she had been through in the past twenty years to keep her virginity intact?

Twenty years had passed.

The next day,

Feng Wuyou told Feng Qingyan first thing after the morning meal.

"The maiden silver has disappeared, confirming what father said, her maiden silver must have been added later."

Feng Qingyan had guessed as much, but still found it somewhat unbelievable when actually hearing it.

If the maiden silver was fake, then only one person would know, the mother-in-law.

"I need to go back," she said, needing to ask the mother-in-law for clarification.

Jun Moqing said, "I’ll accompany you back."

Feng Qingyan looked up at Jun Moqing, hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Feng Wuyou had been privy to the matter beforehand, so she needed to stay calmer.

"I’ll wait here for your return."

Jun Moqing nodded. "Mhm, we’ll come back as quickly as possible."

Once Feng Qingyan decided to return, she began packing her bags and left the palace with Jun Moqing.

Taotao and Susu, upon learning their grandparents were leaving, cried and fussed, not wanting to let go.

With Jun Moqing’s consoling, the two little ones managed to calm their upset emotions.

The day before Qin Xiao and Chun Xi were to wed, Feng Wuyou was preparing to attend the banquet when Xiao Jinyu called her over.

"Sister-in-law, Ayan is feeling unwell. Can you take a look at her?"

As Feng Wuyou walked, she asked, "Has she been taking her medicine on time?"

Xiao Jinyu said, "She takes it daily, but her complexion is getting worse day by day. She’s also becoming increasingly listless."

Feng Wuyou furrowed her brows, puzzled, as she made her way to the Qiancheng Hall.

Seeing the Consort at the bedside, she indeed looked worse than before.

Feng Wuyou was clear about her own prescriptions; barring other complications, they should have brought about improvement with regular use over time.

But instead of improving, the Consort’s condition had grown more severe.

Feng Wuyou took the Consort’s hand to check her pulse.

Xiao Jinyu, seeing Ayan so ill, was extremely anxious and didn’t know what to do.

After diagnosing the pulse, Feng Wuyou’s brows tightened. "How can this be?"

Xiao Jinyu pressed for an answer, "Sister-in-law, what’s wrong with Ayan?"

Feng Wuyou said, "She’s been taking her medicine on schedule, how can her condition be worsening? If this continues, I’m afraid the Consort’s life is in danger."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Jinyu’s heart raced, and looking down at the person in bed, the thought of something happening to her flooded him with fear.

He suddenly looked up at Feng Wuyou, "Sister-in-law, is there really no way to save her? You must find a way."

"Let me check," Feng Wuyou said, examining the Consort, whose pallor was frighteningly pale.

"Could someone have poisoned her?"

Xiao Jinyu roared like a madman, "Who poisoned her? Who dares to poison Ayan? I will not spare her."

Feng Wuyou replied, "It’s just a guess. It might not be poison, perhaps it’s another cause."

"Consort, have you been feeling any discomfort elsewhere in your body?"

"My body aches somewhat, as if something is sucking at it, a strange feeling," the Consort replied thoughtfully.

Feng Wuyou grew more perplexed upon hearing this, as the Consort’s symptoms sounded almost dreamlike.

"Prince Jinyu, take the Consort out to the yard to bask in the sun."

"All right," Xiao Jinyu instructed a eunuch to get the Consort’s chair ready, making sure it was covered with blankets before he carried the Consort outside.

He placed her on the Consort’s chair and brought over a light blanket to cover her.

The winter sun was exceptionally warm.

Seeing Ayan’s pale, bloodless face, Xiao Jinyu’s heart ached profoundly. "Ayan, don’t be afraid. My sister-in-law is a very good physician; she’ll definitely find a way to save you."

With the sun brightly shining, the Consort, unable to open her eyes, squinted at Xiao Jinyu and saw the worry in his eyes. She reassured him, "I’m okay, don’t worry."

Xiao Jinyu saw her looking so gravely ill; how could he not worry? Just the thought of her being in danger sent him into a panic.

After coaxing Ayan to sleep, Xiao Jinyu went to Feng Wuyou.

"Sister-in-law, Ayan will be fine, won’t she?"

When had Feng Wuyou ever seen Xiao Jinyu so heartbroken and distressed? His desperation was clear, and with the severe dark circles under his eyes, it was evident he hadn’t slept well recently.

"If we can’t find the cause, and this blood deficiency continues..."
