Lin Xian, growing somewhat annoyed, seized Shen Chuwei’s wrist and demanded, "What do I have to say for you to truly believe I am not your husband?"

Shen Chuwei had never thought she would be troubled by trying to convince her husband to believe that she was his wife, but when the unexpected happens, there is no way to avoid such helplessness.

"You don’t have to say anything. We will know in time. In three days, your eyes should be able to see, and perhaps when you see me, you will remember," she said.

When Lin Xian heard that he could see in three days, he became a bit excited, "Are you serious? I’ll be able to see in three days?"

Shen Chuwei nodded, "Barring any accidents, you should be able to see. I also hope you can regain your sight soon, it will make eating much easier."

Lin Xian was immersed in joy and completely ignored that she called him her husband again. In three days, he would be able to see things again, and nothing could make him happier than that.

Three days later

Today, Lin Xian was more eager than ever for the night to come. He had been sitting at the table drinking tea all day. He did not eat the lunch that the maid had brought, probably because he knew that Shen Chuwei would bring him dinner, giving him the excuse not to eat.

In the afternoon, Ouyang Leyuan entered with a face full of concern. Seeing Lin Xian in the wheelchair, even seated in it, he could not hide his distinguished aura.

To describe him with eyebrows like snow on mountain peaks and a demeanor like the moon amongst clouds would be more than fitting.

Ouyang Leyuan walked slowly over and sat across from Lin Xian, her concern evident as she said, "I heard from the maid that you didn’t eat your lunch. I’m worried about you. You’re weak and ill, how can you heal without eating?"

Lin Xian paused in the act of drinking tea and said indifferently, "I have no appetite."

Ouyang Leyuan had guessed as much without him saying, but since she had been unsuccessful in finding a satisfactory chef for so long, she was quite anxious.

"I know the food is not to your taste, and I have sent someone out to look for a chef. We should find one soon," she said.

Lin Xian replied, "You are taking too much trouble on my account."

Ouyang Leyuan gave a shy, coquettish smile, "There’s no need to be so formal with me."

Lin Xian spoke warmly, "For all the trouble and expense you’ve gone through for my sake, thank you."

Ouyang Leyuan looked at him earnestly, "As long as it helps you recover, I’m happy. There’s no need for thanks—it’s too formal."

Lin Xian said, "Alright, I’ll say no more."

"In a few days, it will be the annual Water-Splashing Festival, which is always a lively event. It’s a pity...," Ouyang Leyuan glanced at the man before her, who not only suffered from blindness but also had seriously injured legs, which meant he couldn’t join her at the festival.

"There’s always next year," Lin Xian said.

Upon hearing this, Ouyang Leyuan beamed with happiness, "That’s true, you’ll definitely get better."

Lin Xian gave a soft "Hmm" in response.

After staying for a while, Ouyang Leyuan left. Not long after she had left the courtyard, she saw a snow-white cat running towards her.

She had never seen such a beautiful cat before. She had once tried to buy it from Doctor Shen for a large sum of money, but unfortunately, Doctor Shen did not recognize the offer’s value.

She had never given up the idea of owning the cat, and now seeing it again, she was tempted to catch it.

To capture it would mean to own it without spending a penny.

Ouyang Leyuan commanded her followers, "You two, catch that cat."

"Yes, Princess."

Two burly followers moved to encircle Xuetuan.

Xuetuan was just out for a visit but, seeing two giants approaching, it turned and ran back the way it came.

The followers immediately gave chase, but Xuetuan was fast and soon disappeared into the flowers.

After a long search amidst the flowers, the two followers failed to find any trace of Xuetuan.

Ouyang Leyuan, seeing they had not captured Xuetuan, cursed them, "Useless! What’s the use in paying you?"

Meanwhile, Xuetuan scampered into the house and upon seeing Shen Chuwei, finally heaved a sigh of relief—it had been scared to death and nearly captured by that evil woman.

Shen Chuwei peered at Xuetuan looking quite shaken up, then took some dried fish from her Space, tore the packet open, and poured it into a bowl.

At the smell of fish, Xuetuan’s eyes gleamed. It leapt onto the bed and without waiting for Shen Chuwei to prompt, started munching on the dried fish in the bowl to calm its nerves.

Shen Chuwei leaned on the bed, watching Xuetuan eat the dried fish, her mind filled with anticipation for the evening when she could remove the gauze and Xiao Jinyan would be able to see her.

Could it be that the moment Xiao Jinyan laid eyes on her, he would immediately remember that she was his wife?

That night, when the kitchen was empty, Shen Chuwei snuck in to cook.

She prepared Corn Stewed Ribs, with a particularly fragrant broth.

Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes, Potato Stewed Beef, and Four Happiness Meatballs.

On the way, Qin Xiao, holding a medicine box in one hand and a food container in the other, couldn’t help but ask, "Master can truly regain his sight tonight, right?"

Shen Chuwei replied, "If there are no complications, he should be able to see. We’ll find out soon."

Qin Xiao nodded, full of hope that Master would be able to see again.

Holding Xuetuan in her arms, Shen Chuwei entered the courtyard to find Xiao Jinyan sitting outside, a change from his usual spot in the house.

"Husband, why are you outside? There are mosquitoes out here," said Shen Chuwei as she placed Xuetuan in his arms and began to push the wheelchair inside.

Lin Xian didn’t mention that he was simply too anxious to wait inside.

Qin Xiao entered, closed the door behind him, and came over to the table, transferring the dishes one by one from the food container to the table.

Unable to wait any longer, Lin Xian asked, "Can we remove the gauze now?"

Shen Chuwei nodded, "Yes, I’ll help you take it off right now and have a look."

As Qin Xiao stood by, eager with anticipation, Shen Chuwei’s gaze turned to the back of the man’s head. She reached out to untie the knot in the gauze, grasped the top edge of the bandage, and gently pulled it loose.

Contrary to Shen Chuwei’s composure, Lin Xian was very nervous. After more than ten days of waiting, he feared disappointment.
