Shen Chuwei’s heart skipped a beat, and she exchanged a glance with Xiao Jinyan, thinking to herself, it’s over; had she become a harbinger of bad luck?

The bad omens always seemed to materialize, but where was her koi fish luck?

Shen Chuwei leaned close to Xiao Jinyan’s ear and whispered, "You find somewhere to hide first; I’ll handle him."

Shen Chuwei knew the National Master was formidable, so she kept her voice very low.

Xiao Jinyan was also aware that being discovered was not a good thing, and thus he nodded.

After Shen Chuwei got off the bed, she gestured toward the wardrobe beside them, signaling him to hide inside with her eyes.

Once Xiao Jinyan had squeezed into the wardrobe, Chuwei donned a long robe, opened the door, and stepped out, the breeze greeting her with autumn’s chill.

The National Master’s tall, immortal-like figure stood at the bottom of the steps, his robes fluttering without wind, exuding an ethereal quality that made one feel as if they were standing above the clouds.

She asked a redundant question, "National Master, is something the matter?"

Jun Moqing’s cold eyes swept past the room behind her, "Someone entered your boudoir."

Shen Chuwei was startled upon hearing this; no sooner had Jinyan stepped in, the National Master had detected it—this was too impressive.

She could only stubbornly deny it, "National Master, you must be mistaken; how could anyone have entered my boudoir?"

Seeing her disbelief, Jun Moqing simply said, "I’ll know once I go in and look for myself."

Seeing him approach with no trace of jest, Shen Chuwei quickly reached out to stop him.

"National Master, it is late, and not quite proper for an exterior male to enter a lady’s boudoir. I was just about to rest."

In ancient times, men could not casually enter a woman’s boudoir.

Surely a godly figure like the National Master would be well aware of this, right?

But Jun Moqing countered, "I am different from other men."

Shen Chuwei eyed the National Master in front of her, apart from his more refined appearance and demeanor, what made him different? Did he have an extra eye or mouth?

"Indeed, you are different from other men, National Master, but no matter how different, you are still a man, and you should avoid giving cause for concern."

Jun Moqing paused, his icy gaze passing over her shoulder to look inside, where a lamp was lit, brighter than the outside.

He withdrew his eyes to look at Xiao Jiu and did not insist on checking inside.

"Go back in and check again."

"Alright."

Shen Chuwei turned around and patted her small chest, relieved. When she went back inside, she immediately walked to the wardrobe, pulled open the doors, and saw Xiao Jinyan standing among a pile of pink dresses, the dim light making it hard to see clearly.

She leaned close to Xiao Jinyan’s ear and whispered, "The National Master knows someone entered my room; he’s too formidable."

Xiao Jinyan had heard the conversation outside even through the wardrobe door. Although he hadn’t seen the National Master’s face, this alone was proof of the National Master’s formidable prowess.

"I’ll go out and send him away," she whispered.

After speaking softly, Shen Chuwei went out again.

Upon emerging once more, Shen Chuwei still felt nervous, as the National Master was even more impressive than she had imagined.

"National Master, there’s no one in my room. It’s late, and you should go rest, as should I."

Jun Moqing asked, "Are you certain there’s no one?"

Shen Chuwei affirmed confidently, "Of course, my room is only so big, wouldn’t I know if there was someone inside? Besides, this is the Imperial Palace, guarded rigorously, so you need not worry, National Master."

Jun Moqing scrutinized her for a while, but did not press the issue of whether someone was in the room, "You should rest early too."

With that, he turned and walked towards the Main Hall.

Shen Chuwei watched the National Master leave and finally exhaled a sigh of relief. How could someone be so formidable?

Only after the National Master had entered the Main Hall did she turn and hurry back inside, closing the door and sliding the bolt into place.

Xiao Jinyan had already emerged from the wardrobe.

"Jinyan, the National Master has gone back to the Main Hall," Shen Chuwei said as she took his hand. She couldn’t help but express her admiration, "With such prowess, who else could be the National Master if not him?"

Xiao Jinyan, himself a martial artist, had lost his memories, but he knew that even the most skilled warriors couldn’t match the National Master’s vigilance.

"I feel like the National Master wasn’t easily fooled."

"Are you suggesting that the National Master left on purpose?" Chuwei considered the possibility and started to worry, "Then isn’t it going to be difficult for you to leave the palace?"

Xiao Jinyan had in fact wanted to meet the legendary National Master but realized the timing wasn’t right. "What will be, will be—tomorrow, before dawn, I shall depart. Perhaps by then, he will be fast asleep?"

"That’s true, let’s not worry about that for now." Shen Chuwei, pulling Jinyan towards the bed, began to undo his clothing for him.
