Lin Xian heard for the second time today that he had lost a lot of weight. When Ouyang Leyuan said it, he didn’t feel anything particular.

But when Doctor Shen said it, he was surprised.

Perhaps it was because she brought food.

Shen Chuwei picked up a bowl, scooped some rice into it, and placed it in front of Xiao Jinyan. She then used chopsticks to pick up a piece of cola chicken wing and some fried-braised eggplant to put into the bowl.

"I’ve served you some dishes, eat while it’s hot. It won’t taste good once it’s cold," she said.

Lin Xian felt a pair of chopsticks being put into his hand. Clutching the chopsticks, perhaps because he was hungry, he picked up the eggplant from the bowl, chewed slowly, and discovered it tasted good. He then scooped some rice into his mouth as well.

He picked up a cola chicken wing and put it into his mouth. The dish he had just eaten was something he had never tried, and he did not know what it was. This dish was also unfamiliar to him, but it tasted great.

"What is this dish?" he asked.

Shen Chuwei replied, "Cola chicken wings. What you had just now was fried-braised eggplant. They’re both dishes you usually love to eat."

Lin Xian was taken aback, then realized that she was talking about her husband, not him.

Shen Chuwei filled a bowl with some tomato egg soup and placed it in front of him. "This is tomato egg soup. Drink some while it’s hot."

At her words, Lin Xian paused in his chewing.

He had never heard of tomato egg soup before.

Curious, he reached out to pick up the bowl.

With tentative movements due to his blindness, it was only when his fingertips touched the bowl that he lifted it to his lips and took a sip, finding the taste to his liking, he continued drinking several more mouthfuls.

Shen Chuwei, holding Xuetuan, waited for Xiao Jinyan to put down his bowl. She glanced at it and saw that he’d drunk over half of the soup. Even without his memory, it seemed he still loved the soup, and the dishes as well.

Since waking up, Lin Xian had never eaten two bowls of rice until today when he actually finished three, filling the stomach that had never been satisfied before.

Shen Chuwei took out a handkerchief to wipe the grease from the corners of his mouth.

Lin Xian stiffened and instinctively turned his head away, "I can do it myself."

Shen Chuwei paused, saw Xiao Jinyan’s disgusted action, decided not to take it to heart since he didn’t remember, and placed the handkerchief in his hand.

Lin Xian elegantly wiped the corners of his mouth with the handkerchief.

Shen Chuwei watched him. Except for being a bit thinner and remaining silent, he seemed no different, as if nothing had ever happened.

"I’ll change your dressing," she said.

Lin Xian replied, "Hmm."

Shen Chuwei placed Xuetuan in his arms.

Lin Xian felt a weight on his legs and reached out to touch it, only to realize it was her pet. Its fur felt very comfortable.

Shen Chuwei had prepared the ointment ahead of time, so there was no need to do so now. She opened the medicine box, took out the previously prepared ointment, applied it to the gauze, and then stood up to go behind Xiao Jinyan to untie the bandage covering his eyes.

Xiao Jinyan cooperated, and the dressing change went smoothly.

Lin Xian asked, "How long will it take for my eyes to heal?"

Shen Chuwei answered, "If there are no complications, within half a month, possibly even sooner."

Half a month felt like a long time to Lin Xian, but all he could do was wait now.

Shen Chuwei looked at Xiao Jinyan’s legs. They were long and straight. She hadn’t had the chance to examine them the previous night because it had been too late.

"Let me check your legs."

Lin Xian nodded, "Hmm."

He had unconditional cooperation with any medical treatment. He was eager to walk like a normal person and to go anywhere on his own.

Shen Chuwei crouched down in front of him, her hands reaching to his ankle, slowly rolling up his trouser leg to just above the knee.

When the knee was exposed, a large bruise came into view.

Shen Chuwei was shocked. How had the bruising not dissipated after all this time?

She reached out and touched the knee, her hand met warm skin.

Lin Xian subconsciously wanted to recoil, but recalling that she was the doctor who could heal his leg, he endured and did not shy away.

Shen Chuwei felt around the knee and discovered serious damage. Then she rolled up the other trouser leg. This knee looked slightly better than the right one, but the damage looked equally severe.

She had seen Xiao Jinyan’s most severe injury before when he had been poisoned and his arm had been hurt, but compared to his current state, that was nothing.

How much must that person have hated Xiao Jinyan? He had been poisoned before being killed, his eyes and legs destroyed, and finally, another sword thrust into his chest.

She could barely imagine Xiao Jinyan having walked a circle around Ghost Gate Pass, let alone how he had made it through before.

Shen Chuwei couldn’t help herself and embraced Xiao Jinyan. Tears fell drop by drop, choking up as she spoke, "Who did this? This is pure torture, a willful attempt to make your life worse than death."
