"Are you planning to take Taotao and Susu with you?"

The Emperor, while tying his belt, took a moment to reply, "Yes, Susu has been saying lately that she misses Mommy. Taking her out to have some fun might help her stop thinking about missing Mommy."

"It’s been almost two months since they’ve seen the Concubine. Of course, they miss her," the Empress said as Qingying helped her into her regular clothes.

By this time, Taotao and Susu had been brought over by Eunuch Li.

"Grandpa Emperor, Grandma."

This was the first thing the two little ones said as they came in.

The Emperor bent down to pick up Susu and turned to the Empress, "You hold Taotao. Taotao is a bit lighter than Susu."

The Empress playfully scolded, "If you want to hold Susu, just say so, no need to make excuses."

With that, she picked up Taotao and followed the Emperor out.

The Emperor smiled without saying a word.

But to tell the truth, Taotao indeed weighed less than Susu~

Since they were going out in disguise, only a few people accompanied them, and the horse carriage they used was relatively ordinary as well.

While riding in the carriage, Susu and Taotao were already excitedly leaning against the window, staring outside.

Seeing this, the Emperor and Empress exchanged a smile.

"It looks like we should take them out more often in the future. They’re so curious about everything, like country bumpkins entering the city for the first time," said the Emperor.

"Lingling is right; it’s good for them to see more of the world," responded the Empress.

Once they reached the bustling Longist Street, Susu and Taotao excitedly ran all over the place.

The Emperor and Empress followed closely behind, afraid the two little ones would get lost.

Susu’s little legs moved quickly, as if a mythical beast had been let loose, struggling to keep up with all the fun and delicious things she saw.

She pointed at the rabbit-shaped sugar figurines and then at the roasted cakes, her voice full of childish longing, "Grandpa, grandpa, I want this, and this one too."

On the horse carriage, the Emperor had already taught the children that once they were outside, they should call him Grandpa, not Grandpa Emperor.

The Emperor didn’t care what his precious granddaughter wanted to buy; whatever she wanted, he agreed to, "Alright, we’ll buy them all."

The bodyguard followed, paying and carrying the purchases.

Susu, holding the rabbit sugar figurine, happily ran up to the Empress and lifted the figurine up high, "Grandma, bunny."

The Empress bent down and smiled at the figurine in Susu’s hand, praising, "What a cute rabbit, just as cute as Susu."

Susu’s eyes crinkled with joy, "Grandma adorable too."

The Empress laughed heartily at Susu’s words, "You’re such a sweet talker, Susu."

Susu came over to Taotao with another figurine in hand, offering it to him, "Gugu, this is for you."

Taotao looked at the tiger figurine in his sister’s hand, accepted it happily, and observed it closely, "Looks like Dabai."

Susu lifted her chin confidently, "Dabai is cuter."

Taotao agreed with his sister’s opinion without hesitation, "Yeah, Dabai is cuter."

Susu, still buoyant, ran off with the figurine. Spotting a snack stall and seeing unfamiliar delicacies, she excitedly grabbed the Emperor’s sleeve, "Grandpa, I want this one."

"Buy it," the Emperor said as he handed one to Susu, smiling, "Baby, eat up."

"Thank you, Grandpa." Susu took a bite from the skewer and, finding it delicious, looked up at her grandpa, "Grandpa, I want more, five more."

The Emperor instructed, "Buy ten."

The bodyguard took ten, pulled out a purse, and paid the vendor.

While Susu was busy eating, the Emperor looked up at the Empress, "Lingling, is there nothing you want to buy?"

The Empress scanned the items on the stall and shook her head with a smile, "I’m already a grandma, these things aren’t suitable for me. Just being able to walk around on this holiday makes me very happy."

These were the Empress’s most heartfelt words. Since entering the palace, she had often thought about when the Crown Prince would have time to take her out of the palace for a day, when the Emperor would find time to accompany her on a stroll outside the palace.

Lately, the dog of an Emperor had indeed changed; not once had he visited any other women, and when he wasn’t busy, he would come to Fengyi Palace.

Although she was initially resistant, she later thought that if he could maintain this behavior, she would be willing to forgive and forget.

They had entered middle age, having become grandparents, and they didn’t know how much longer they had to live. Every day was precious.

The dog Emperor once said, "If you don’t let me eat my fill, aren’t you just pushing me toward other women?"

She thought about it and actually found it to make a lot of sense.

So, these days, she felt as if she had returned to their youth, back when they were the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.

The Emperor noticed the Empress was staring at him. He reached out and took her hand, asking gently, "Lingling, what are you thinking?"

The Empress shook her head with a smile, "Nothing much, it’s just been so long since I’ve been out, I’m a bit overwhelmed with joy."

The Emperor knew that he had been preoccupied with state affairs and had given too little attention to her, feeling somewhat guilty, "In the future, I will take you out more often for a walk."

The Empress nodded, "Okay."

Xun Qingqing and Jun Wuxian wandered and snacked their way through the street vendors, finding it quite enjoyable.

Suddenly, a child dashed toward them from the opposite side, slamming right into Jun Wuxian’s embrace.

Fortunately, Jun Wuxian reacted quickly, catching the child before she could fall.

Susu, engrossed in her snack, forgot to watch where she was going, and in her haste, collided with someone.

She quickly apologized, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. I’ll give you a candy, okay? Don’t be mad."

When Jun Wuxian saw the child’s appearance, he was momentarily stunned. Her plump little face was palm-sized, and her bright, twinkling eyes seemed to speak for themselves.

The little girl had two small buns on top of her head, with butterfly-shaped pearl flowers pinned in front, and wore a pink dress, looking as adorable as a porcelain doll.

What surprised him wasn’t the little girl’s cuteness, but her striking resemblance to Little Nine when she was young.

It had been two months since Xun Qingqing had last seen Susu, but she recognized her immediately.

"Eh, isn’t this Susu? What are you doing here?"

Jun Wuxian looked up at Xun Qingqing, "You know her?"

"Of course," Xun Qingqing whispered close to his ear, "She is the daughter of the Crown Princess, her name is Susu."
