Xuetuan ran out and looked back, only to realize Xiao Jinyan hadn’t followed, so it ran back with confusion.

Upon seeing Xiao Jinyan, Xuetuan raised its head to look at him and meowed at him once,

signaling Xiao Jinyan to follow it.

Lin Xian snapped back to reality and looked down at Xuetuan, who had returned. In the night, its deep blue eyes were unusually bright.

"Meow." Xuetuan reached out with its paw and scratched his leg as if puzzled as to why he wasn’t moving.

Lin Xian pursed his lips as he watched Xuetuan’s actions, roughly guessing its intention. Still, he hesitated inside, as his legs were too important to him; he couldn’t gamble with his own legs.

Inside the Confinement Room

During the day, Shen Chuwei worried about Ouyang Jingyuan’s illness; in the evening, she worried Xiao Jinyan would go hungry waiting for her to deliver his meal, and that the medicine for his leg injury would go unchanged and cause discomfort.

She surveyed the four corners of the Confinement Room, her gaze turning toward the window behind her. The window was small, but her petite frame should allow her to climb out.

Qin Xiao saw Shen Chuwei staring at the window and immediately guessed her thoughts, "Master, are you planning to climb out from here?"

Shen Chuwei’s gaze returned to Qin Xiao, "Yes, Your Highness will surely be worried if he can’t wait for me."

Qin Xiao, who had seen much of the world, knew at a glance that the window was made of iron and would require tools to open.

"Forced removal of the window will inevitably alert the guards outside."

Shen Chuwei took out a dagger from her waist and proudly said, "I have a dagger."

This dagger was something she had found in her Space. When she forgot to bring a fruit knife while out and about, she would use the dagger to peel fruits.

She also used this dagger to eat steak, slicing through steak with ease.

The only downside was that every time she used the dagger, it drew frequent sidelong glances from bystanders.

Qin Xiao looked at the dagger in Shen Chuwei’s hand. The intricate patterns on the scabbard did not seem typical of Daxia, but he could tell that the dagger was not made of ordinary bronze.

He looked up at Shen Chuwei and saw her eyes brimming with confidence, feeling it was necessary to remind her.

"A regular dagger cannot cut through an iron window."

"I know, but my dagger is very sharp. We’ll know once we try," said Shen Chuwei without being certain whether she could indeed cut through the iron window or not. How would she know without trying?

Qin Xiao thought Shen Chuwei’s reasoning made sense. He walked beneath the window, bent down to squat, and supported himself with his hands on the ground, turning himself into a makeshift stool.

"Master, step on my back; it’ll be easier that way."

Shen Chuwei, without being coy, took hold of the wall and stepped onto Qin Xiao’s back. She found it unexpectedly stable, and after stepping up, her hands could just reach the iron window.

She pulled out her dagger and began cutting at the base of an iron bar, using all her strength to her surprise, the iron bar was cut through.

It was then that she truly understood the meaning of ’cutting iron as if it were mud.’

She excitedly said to Qin Xiao, "Qin Xiao, I’ve cut through it."

Cut through?

Qin Xiao showed a surprised expression. A dagger that could cut through iron wasn’t an ordinary one; it was a treasured weapon that could slice iron as if it were mud.

After a while, Shen Chuwei had cut through all the iron bars of the window.

As she climbed out, she still stepped on Qin Xiao’s back.

During the climb, Shen Chuwei felt an excruciating pain in her lower back, as if something sharp had scraped across it.

She ignored the urge to check what it was; once out of the window, without a foothold, she had no choice but to jump down directly.

For her with no kung fu skills, this height was considerable, and she could feel the pain upon hitting the ground.

The window was too small, and Qin Xiao, being tall, couldn’t climb out. He was also worried for Shen Chuwei’s safety and was sweating profusely.

"You stay inside for now. When I come back, I’ll bring you something to eat." After speaking, Shen Chuwei walked into the pitch-black night.

Qin Xiao watched Shen Chuwei leave, his heart full of worry, but he was helpless to do anything.

Shen Chuwei went straight to the kitchen. Cooking rice and stir-frying at this point was out of the question. She had fresh corn in her Space, which she took out.

The corn was fresh and tender, easy to cook.

She boiled ten ears of corn.

While the corn was being cooked, she took out instant noodles from her Space and cooked them with eggs.

In her rush to fry the eggs, she accidentally dripped water into the hot oil, and the splashing oil burned the back of her hand, making her cry out in pain.

Such a rush to cook was a first for her, yet she still didn’t bother to apply burn ointment.

Soon, the steaming noodles were ready, she scooped them into a large bowl and placed them in a food container, the large bowl less likely to spill.

By now, the corn was also ready. After rinsing it with cold water, she placed it into the food container as well.
