Ouyang Leyuan picked up the letter with a puzzled look, examining it from left to right. Then she moved to the window and peered outside. The night was deep, and all she could see was a pitch-black expanse with the vague silhouette of trees.

She lowered her gaze to the letter, opened it with confusion, and saw a sentence written on it: "Lin Xian will not return after he leaves."

After reading this, the puzzlement in Ouyang Leyuan’s eyes deepened. Who wrote this letter? And why would they say Lin Xian won’t return after he leaves?

She clutched the letter tightly in her hand, a feeling of unease rising in her heart.

After all, it was she who had saved Lin Xian, and she was planning on having him marry into her family. How could he not return?

The next morning, the warm sunlight shone on the windowsill.

Lin Xian slowly opened his eyes and realized it was already daylight. Without asking, he knew it was late in the morning.

He turned his head to look at the person beside him. He saw her eyes closed tightly, with faint tear stains visible at the corners.

She was sleeping soundly at this moment.

The thin quilt barely covered up to her armpits, revealing large areas of her fair skin, which still felt smoother and more delicate than white jade even after a whole night.

Her ink-black hair, as long as her waist, lay scattered across her shoulders, unable to hide the marks left from the previous night on her skin as white as snow, especially conspicuous.

Upon seeing this, Lin Xian’s throat unconsciously tightened. Remembering what he had done the night before, he covered his eyes and took a deep breath, his mind incessantly replaying the events of the night.

Although it was Shen Chuwei who had initiated everything at first, it was his lack of self-control that caught fire in a flash, uncontrollable like a wildfire.

Later on, it was he who took the initiative. Even when she pleaded for mercy, the person who did not let go was also him.

Lin Xian took another deep breath, moved his hand away, and then saw a familiar sleeping face, still retaining the blush of last night.

Feeling the heat in her sleep, Shen Chuwei kicked off the quilt, exposing more of her snow-white skin. She adjusted her sleeping position and then fell into a deeper sleep.

Lin Xian looked down at the still-sleeping person, his gaze uncontrollably lingering on her until his face flushed red, at which point he reached out to pull the quilt back over her.

Although he had guessed it, seeing it with his own eyes was another thing entirely.

Lin Xian got out of bed quietly, dressed himself, and left the room.

As he washed up, his mind couldn’t help but return to the events of last night.

He hadn’t drunk any alcohol last night, so he remembered everything from beginning to end, not just vaguely, but with striking clarity – it was impossible to forget.

When Shen Chuwei woke up, she found herself alone in bed. She stretched lazily, only to find that her limbs were sore.

"Indeed, those who haven’t exercised for a while tire more easily." As soon as she spoke, her overused voice was hoarse to the extreme.

She crawled out of bed, and as her feet hit the floor, they felt as if they were stepping on cotton, weak and without strength.

She dressed slowly.

Once dressed, Shen Chuwei, tired out from her weariness, walked out to find Xiao Jinyan sitting at the table, drinking tea. Describing him as refreshed and spirited would not be an overstatement.

She couldn’t understand how, after a similar lack of exercise, the difference between them could be so great.

When Lin Xian saw she was awake, he paused his tea-drinking, trying to act nonchalant, "Awake?"

Before the truth was clear, having crossed that line last night, Lin Xian still felt somewhat uncomfortable.

Shen Chuwei, on the other hand, was calm and composed.

For her, it was nothing more than a common occurrence between husband and wife.

"Hmm, I’m so hungry." Shen Chuwei took a seat at the table, picked up the teapot to pour herself a cup of tea, raised it to her lips, and took a few sips.

"I got up late today and didn’t have time to make breakfast." She continued, pouring herself another cup of tea and drinking it.

Lin Xian, listening to her hoarse voice and seeing her as someone desperately hungry, relying on drinking water to fill her stomach, remembered her saying before going to sleep last night, "I’m hungry, I want a late-night snack~"

"Qin Xiao has already gone to get breakfast. Just wait a little longer."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Qin Xiao came in with breakfast. He lowered his gaze and placed each dish on the table, including two steaming bowls of lean pork porridge.

Shen Chuwei looked at the dishes on the table, all of which she had made in the past few days. She picked up a piece of rice cake, bit into it, and found it golden brown on both sides, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The taste was good.

"Who made these dishes? They’re quite tasty."

Qin Xiao replied, "The cook made them. Hearing that the Crown Princess didn’t go to the kitchen today, they made them."

Without naming names, Shen Chuwei guessed that over the past days in the kitchen, she had become well-acquainted with the cooks, and they had learned quite a few culinary skills from her.

Plus, since she went there every day, things like flour were kept in the kitchen, so they took the opportunity to show off their learned culinary skills.
