Ouyang Leyuan paused while drinking her tea upon hearing those words, truly not expecting Lin Xian to leave so soon.

"But your wound has not yet healed. Couldn’t you rest and recuperate for a while longer?"

Ouyang Leyuan’s words clearly conveyed her wish to retain him.

Shen Chuwei picked up on it, and naturally, so did Lin Xian.

"I have been away for too long. I am worried that my parents are concerned about me. I need to return home for a visit. Besides, I’ve been resting for many days and my injury has healed quite well."

Ouyang Leyuan obviously did not want Lin Xian to leave. Her gaze fell on his legs, and she added, "Your leg has not yet healed. Why don’t you wait until it’s better before leaving? How about that?"

Lin Xian looked down at his legs and then raised his head to look at Ouyang Leyuan, a slight smile lingering on his lips, "Thank you for your concern, Princess Leyuan. My legs have significantly improved, and I am grateful for your care during this time."

Shen Chuwei saw Xiao Jinyan actually smiling at another woman. The him from before definitely wouldn’t smile at any woman like that.

Indeed, her worries were justified. The amnesiac Xiao Jinyan had forgotten even his own nature.

She picked up a piece of Mung Bean Cake from the plate and glanced at Wu Tan, nearly neglecting the fact that he had come along with her.

His complexion was really poor today, originally fair and tender... uh! That description didn’t quite fit. It was a sickly pale that came from being excessively pale.

Could it be due to an inability to acclimate to the local environment?

She handed Wu Tan the Mung Bean Cake that she was holding, "Little Master Wu Tan, eat some Mung Bean Cake to cool down."

Wu Tan saw the Mung Bean Cake before him, and as he lifted his eyes, he saw a pair of bright, twinkling eyes, with a hint of a smile.

He reached out for the Mung Bean Cake, "Thank you, Doctor Shen."

Shen Chuwei said, "You’re welcome."

Wu Tan smiled and took a bite of the Mung Bean Cake. Upon entering his mouth, the taste was fresh and sweet, not overly sugary, with a delicate texture. It was even better than the Imperial Pastries from the palace.

He looked up at her, unreserved in his praise, "It’s delicious. Did you make this yourself?"

Shen Chuwei shrugged helplessly, "Mmm, I wanted to eat it, so I made it myself."

As she spoke, she grabbed another piece of Mung Bean Cake, took a big bite, and squinted her eyes in satisfaction. It had been a long time since she had eaten it; she had been craving it.

Wu Tan complimented, "You’re very skilled."

Lin Xian watched the two in front of him eat and laugh. A monk not staying in the temple to chant and worship, but rather coming to the secular world to dabble in worldly pleasures.

Before him, someone laughing and chatting with a monk, repeatedly calling him her husband?

Who jokes and laughs with another man in front of their own husband?

"Young Master Lin."

Lin Xian was stewing in irritation internally, and it took three calls from Ouyang Leyuan before he responded. He calmly looked at Ouyang Leyuan and dismissively said, "Thank you for your kindness, Princess Leyuan. I will stay a few more days."

Ouyang Leyuan nodded happily, "Good."

Then her eyes fell on Lin Xian’s legs, "Your legs, can you walk?"

Lin Xian nodded, "Yes, I can walk a little, just not too much or I’ll tire."

"That’s good to hear. Once your leg recovers, you won’t need a wheelchair." Ouyang Leyuan was somewhat looking forward to wandering side by side with him in the garden.

"How about I take you to the Square for a stroll tomorrow?"

Lin Xian glanced at the two still engaged in animated conversation and once again responded noncommittally, "Sure."

"Then it’s settled." Ouyang Leyuan expressed her joy by picking up her teacup and taking a sip.

Lin Xian’s gaze turned towards Shen Chuwei, only to see her biting into a big piece of Mung Bean Cake, turning her head to chat and laugh with Wu Tan, her cheeks puffed out like buns, her words unclear.

He frowned, the Mung Bean Cake evidently unable to silence her.

"I’m planning to cook dinner myself tonight. You can suggest a dish," Shen Chuwei pondered for a moment and added, "Is your pale complexion due to the local environment not agreeing with you? You could try something with a stronger flavor. What would you like to eat?"

Wu Tan was initially surprised, then chuckled, "I’m not picky. I’ll eat whatever you cook."

"Well, that’s alright then. As a monk, you can’t eat meat. That must be tough," Shen Chuwei remarked sympathetically as she looked at Wu Tan.

Wu Tan chuckled softly, "My teacher says that in cultivating the mind and spirit, there’s no such thing as suffering. However..."

Shen Chuwei pressed, "However what?"

Wu Tan’s pure gaze met Shen Chuwei’s without flickering, recalling the scene at the White Horse Temple when she wanted to eat roasted rabbit meat and personally caught a rabbit.

"For you, that would be quite a sorrowful matter."

"Isn’t that the truth? I’m really not cut out for Buddha," Shen Chuwei concluded and then stuffed the rest of her Mung Bean Cake into her mouth.

At her words, Wu Tan smiled gently, "As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters."
