Story: The Phantom Wolf
Bella was rushed to the operating room Carlisle had set up for Bella's labour and delivery.
"Rosalie pass me the morphine." Edward urgently ordered his sister. To which Rosalie hastily passed the vile to him.
Alice was on the phone to the coven leader and informed everyone, "Carlisle said the placenta must have detached."
Edward injected Bella with a dose of morphine to try and ease her pain.
"He's coming as fast as he can, but..." Alice trailed off.
"We'll have to do it." Rosalie announced. Grabbing a scalpel, she went to cut into Bella's stomach.
Edward grabbed her hand to halt her advance. "Let the morphine spread." He told her.
"There's no time. He's dying." The blonde argued.
Bella shouted at them. "Get him out now!"
With Bella's permission, Rosalie cut into her to get the baby out of the human.
But as soon as Bella's blood spilled onto the blonde's hand, she froze.
Jacob realised what was happening and tackled Rosalie away from Bella before she did something she'd end up regretting.
Alice grabbed hold of Rosalie and dragged her out of the room.
Bella's screams of pain filled the area. Jacob called out to Edward, "Save her! You've gotta change her!"
"I can't! Not while he's still in there." Edward denied and moved to tear open the embryonic sac with his teeth, in order to retrieve his baby.
Jacob turned to Bella and pleaded with her. "Focus Bella. Keep your heart beating."
Edward tore into his wife's body to save their child whilst Bella screamed in agony. After a bit of time, Bella's screams lessened, her energy depleting.
Edward removed the baby from Bella's body and held them up for Bella to see. "It's Renesmee." He announced joyfully.
Bella smiled weakly at her daughter and said in a quiet voice, "You're beautiful." After that she fell silent.
Jacob was the first to notice her lack of breathing, and called out to his friend. "Bella? Bella!" Getting no response, he immediately gave her mouth to mouth and started CPR.
Edward wrapped his daughter in a cloth as Rosalie entered the room.
"Edward give her to me. I'm okay now, I promise." Rosalie said calmly.
Reading her thoughts to confirm, Edward gently handed his daughter to his sister. Rosalie held the baby very carefully and took her out of the room. Leaving the two boys to focus solely on saving Bella's life.
Edward grabbed a syringe of his venom and stabbed it into Bella's heart to try and turn her.
They waited for a moment to see if it had worked. When nothing happened, Edward started to doing CPR to try and get his venom to circulate through her body.
Jacob realised what this meant and looked heartbroken. He took a step back before announcing to the vampire, "I won't kill you. You deserve to live with this." After finishing his statement, he walked out of the house. Leaving Edward alone, who was still desperately trying to save his wife.
Sitting on the steps outside, Jacob let his tears fall. And began to quietly sob. Grieving the loss of his friends and his first love.
Seth approached him and asked in a careful tone. "She didn't make it. Did she?"
Jacob shook his head to Seth's question. Answering it silently. Seth looked to the ground and thought about all the death this situation had brought, as he let a few of his own tears fall down his face.
Neither of the shifters noticed the grey wolf that was watching them and listening from the tree line. Nor did they notice when he skulked back into the darkness, and headed towards his pack to inform them of the human's death.
A while later, Jacob left the ground and entered the house.
In search of the child that was responsible for Bella's death.
Approaching Rosalie and the baby from behind, he had a murderous look on his face.
But as soon as his eyes and the baby's eyes met, his entire world shifted.
He collapsed to the floor in surprise and shock.
He had just imprinted on Bella's daughter.
Howling sounded out from the forest. Travelling across the Cullen's territory, for all to hear.
The Uley pack, was coming.
