Story: The Phantom Wolf
"No way! I can't believe your a girl! That's badass!" Emmet exclaimed, smiling widely. "Let's wrestle!" He shouted enthusiastically.
Rosalie slaps her husband over the head. "Think before you speak!" She scolds.
"But babe!"
"No!" Rosalie cuts him off and slaps him again.
"Ow! Quit doing that!" Emmet complains.
The entire family watched the interaction between the husband and wife, momentarily forgetting the strange shifter while watching the couples antics. Carlisle refocuses the quickest and interrupts, bringing attention to the current task.
Turning to face the newly shifted girl who protected the new born they spared. Carlisle spoke, "So, may we know your name?" The entire coven, the human and the new born included, turns to the shifter.
Sighing to herself, Pearl makes eye contact with Carlisle and proceeds to try and answer him. "My name is-" However, she gets interrupted by the blonde vampire who was smacking the big guy earlier.
"Your Pearl Clearwater!" Rosalie exclaimed. "She's the girl from the missing posters!" She stated, directing the information to her family.
Bree looked confused and decided to stay by 'Pearls' side. She felt safe when she is near her. Not really having the slightest clue as to why that is the case, Bree chose to ignore it for now and allow herself to finally relax, for the first time in months.
Pearl stands still at the outburst, and stared at the blonde with confusion evident in her eyes.
'Missing posters? What missing posters? Did my family really report me missing?
I thought they didn't care. I mean, I know it looked like those cops from before recognised me.
But I can't be sure of that. After all, I didn't stick around long enough to find out. ' Pearl thought.
The rest of the vampires examined Pearl closely with their eyes. Alongside Bella, who was already comparing the girl to her dads many missing persons' files. Jasper was the first (aside from Rosalie) to gain a look of recognition across his face.
"It is her" He said quietly.
"No way, she disappeared months ago!" Emmet denied. At his remark, Jasper, Rosalie, Alice and Emmet started arguing about who was correct. Neither side wanting to back down. Until Edward interrupted them.
"Look at her Emmet. It's clearly the same person on the poster." Edward stated, mildly irritated with is brother's obliviousness.
"Yeah" Bella mumbled. Agreeing with her fiancé. "Although you do look different from the photograph my dad used." She said shyly, whilst directing her words to Pearl.
Pearl raised her eyebrows at the humans statement. 'What does she mean by that?' She thought.
Carlisle noticing all of the signs supporting vampirism, was beyond confused.
For, he could hear her heart beating, and had witnessed her transformation into and out of a Wolf.
'This isn't adding up' he thought. With some hesitation in is voice, he spoke, "You're.
.. a vampire... aren't you." He said with uncertainty.
At his words, the group fell silent. Awaiting a response from the girl.
Pearl, who had grown annoyed at all of their reactions and assumptions, decided to lay it all out for them.
'That way we can move onto more important topics.
And I can ask the human what she meant.' She thought, trying to ignore the thoughts of the red-eyed vampire that were trying to plague her mind.
"Alright. To answer you question Dr Cullen, yes I am a vampire.
I was attacked a few months ago by a Cold One with red eyes and red hair.
She bit me. Somehow, I ended up deep within a forest that was far away from people.
After some pretty intense pain, I woke up to find I had changed.
I was super strong and fast. And I needed blood to survive.
And i also found out that I now had an ability.
The ability to conceal all aspects of myself and leave absolutely no trace of me behind at all.
Basically, I can become a ghost. I spent a while getting used to the new me, feeding off of the deer who were unfortunate enough to cross into my path.
Until, I came into a rather aggravating situation involving a giant bear-"
"Bears are the worst!" Emmet interrupted.
"EMMET!" His family chorused in annoyance.
"Sorry dear, please continue." Esme spoke softly.
Pearl glared at Emmet before continuing.
"The bear, tried to take my kill and in doing so, pissed me off royally.
That day, I discovered, that I was a Spirit Warrior.
A wolf shifter. It took me quite a while to get the hang of my wolf side.
But I managed. In terms of exactly what I am.
I do not know. Although, I do refer to myself as a vampire wolf shifter, a hybrid.
So I suppose that is the best term to use.
" Pearl finished and looked at the Cullens, the human and the new born. Awaiting a response.
Said group. Had their jaws touching the floor, at the sheer amount of things this girl had to go through. All on her own, at that! It was silent at the Cullen property for a while. 2 minutes later, after it had truly sunk in, chaos erupted. Everyone spoke at once.
"How are you alive?!" a male voice shouted in disbelief.
"How is this possible?" another male spoke in a calmer manner.
"You went through that all on your own?" a concerned females voice rang out.
"So your a hybrid" a blunt response came from a male.
"I'm so out of my depth right now" another female voice mumbled out.
"I didn't see this coming" a high pitched female complained.
"So a mutt and a vampire. Whatta ya know." a disinterested female voice stated.
"You went through all that, as a new born, and remained in control" another male voice sounded out in disbelief.
"Wow" a quiet meek female voice spoke out.
Pearl, frustrated at all the noise from people speaking over each other, screamed out; "QUIET!".
Everyone fell silent at the powerful voice that came from the hybrid.
Sighs before speaking. "Okay. How about you say what you need to say, one at a time. I can't understand you all if you speak all at once." Pearl said exasperatedly.
"Yes of course. I apologise for our outburst." Carlisle said earnestly.
"It's fine Dr Cullen. I know this all must be quite shocking." Pearl replied.
"Carlisle please" he smiled.
Esme gasps. "That's right. We haven't properly introduced ourselves." Taking a breath, she continues. "My name is Esme dears, and Carlisle is my husband" smiling fondly at Pearl and Bree.
The pixie vampire jumped up in excitement, grabbing her mate by the arm and pulling him closer enthusiastically. "My name's Alice and this is Jasper." Gesturing to the male she's clinging to.
"A pleasure to meet you both." Jasper stated, smiling slightly at the two.
Pearl and Bree smiled at the girl's enthusiasm. Bree more than Pearl as she was still on guard. Although she was entertained by the response of the girl.
"Right! I'm Emmet! And this is my beautiful wife Rosalie." Emmet said confidently, pulling the blonde into his side. Rosalie scoffed at his antics but let out a small smile at seeing his wide grin.
"I'm Edward. And this is Bella. My fiancé." The last boy answered, kissing the human's forehead lovingly.
"It is nice to meet you all. My name is Bree." The new born introduced herself shyly. "Thank you for giving me a chance." She said to Carlisle and Esme, who smiled in response.
Pearl smiled slightly at the clan. But the majority of her attention was on Bree. Who was smiling softly in Pearls direction, before continuing to speak, directing her words towards Pearl.
"And, thank you, for protecting me." Bree said softly.
"You're welcome Bree." Pearl responded in a calm manner.
