Story: The Phantom Wolf
"Hey Emmet" Bree said happily. "Where's Pearl?" She asked.
"With Jasper. The two of them are staying to the side until it's time to get seated." Emmet replied.
"It can't be helped." Carlisle said, coming to join the two. "They're already doing really well as it is. Speaking of." Turning to Bree slightly, looking slightly concerned. "Why don't you join them." He suggests.
"Yeah, I can do that. I'd prefer to be next to Pearl anyway.
" Bree mentions casually. Turning away from the two, looking for Jasper and Pearl in the crowd.
Bree leaves once she spots them by the back, where they are further away from the humans.
So she is unable to see Emmet smirking at her from behind.
"She loves her." Emmet comments to Carlisle quietly.
Carlisle chuckles, then replies, "They are fated mates Emmet. The feelings are there. But they've both been through a lot. I don't think the two of them will recognise how they really feel for a good while."
"Well, they can't wait too long. Me and Rose have a bet going. And I want to win." Emmet exclaimed.
Shaking his head at his son, Carlisle leaves to go and speak with Eleazor and Carmen.
"Where are we sitting again?" Pearl asks Jasper, unsure.
"Near the front, with the rest of the family." Jasper responds, slightly nervous, but trying not to show it.
Bree, picking up on how uncomfortable the two are, tries to reassure them. "We'll be fine. We're sitting in between Emmet and Carlisle, right? And Jasper you're sitting with Alice, right?"
Jasper nods. "That is correct."
"And we're outside." Bree continues.
Pearl nods her head and stays silent.
"So we are gonna be okay. We can just hold our breath the whole time, and if we do need to breath, there's a lot of things out here. We should be able to focus on something other than the humans." Bree concluded confidently.
"Like the shifters?" Pearl said with disdain.
"Yes, exactly. Like the shifters." Bree smiled, then frowned immediately after. Registering what Pearl had just said. "Wait, what shifters?" She asked.
"Those shifters." Pearl gestured towards Billy Black, Sue Clearwater and Seth Clearwater, who were already seated near the middle, within the rows of seats.
"Umm, why are they here?" Bree asked Jasper, nervously. As the last time she had encountered them was when they were assisting the Cullens with the new born army.
"Edward and Bella invited them." Jasper replied. His voice filled with distaste.
Bree looked over at Pearl worriedly. "Are you gonna be okay?" She asked the hybrid.
"They haven't noticed me. And I'm gonna keep it that way. In fact, right now, I'm only visible to the vampires who are here. I'm using my gift to lower my presence for every other creature." Pearl said.
"You can do that?" Jasper asked curious.
Pearl nods and continues. "I've never done it on this scale or magnitude before.
But, I'll be damned if they see me. I'll try to heighten my presence for Bella, so that she, and she alone of the humans will be able to notice me.
I don't want her to think that I just ran off.
Especially after the couple invited me in person. That would be rather rude."
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." Bree agreed.
"How long can you hold it for?" Jasper inquired.
"I don't know." Pearl answered honestly.
"Well, as soon as the ceremony is over, I'm sure we can stay to the side or go to the back during the reception. It should make it harder for any of them to notice you." Bree offers a suggestion.
"We can. Edward already said that it would be okay for any of us to leave, if it all became to much." Jasper answers assuredly.
Pearl nods. "Then that's the plan. I'll hold onto my gift until the ceremony is over. Then I'll use the crowd to hide myself instead of using my gift." Pearl concludes. Bree and Jasper nodded, agreeing with her decision.
Piano music sounded and everyone stood up from their seats. Those who were standing at the side, quickly went to stand beside their own.
Bella and Charlie walk towards the alter, entering the aisle, whilst the music plays. Reaching the alter, Charlie kisses his daughter on the cheek and allows Edward to take Bella's hand, leading her the rest of the way. Charlie goes to stand beside his ex-wife.
The vicar gives the signal for the music to stop and for everyone to take their seats.
"We are gathered here today to witness the union of Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan." The vicar announces.
The vicar proceeded to ask Edward and Bella to say their vows. Once the couple each said "I do", the vicar happily says, "You may now kiss the bride."
Edward and Bella kissed.
Everyone clapped for the couple and for their union.
It was obvious to everyone, that while the couple were kissing, they were in their own world.
None of the guests existed in that moment between the two.
After the kiss finished, Bella and Edward Cullen walked back down the aisle.
Once they were out of sight, all of the guests got up from their seats and headed to the reception.
"Glad that's over" Pearl whispered to Bree, who was holding her breath around the many humans. Bree nodded in response.
