Story: The Phantom Wolf
Okay, how can I get back at Pearl. I can't let her get away with what she did last week. She's finally cooled off, so now's my chance.
So what if I eavesdropped on their conversation a little? I didn't do anything wrong, per say. I just found out a little earlier than everyone else.
She's technically stronger than me now. So challenging her to a fight, will end with me on my arse and her laughing.
Hmm. What to do?
I involuntarily gasped as the perfect idea hit me. "Light bulb." I whispered quietly.
'Where is my favourite niece?' I thought while letting my smirk grow.
It didn't take Emmet long to locate Renesmee, as she was with her mother and father in their cabin. Running up to Edward and Bella, Emmet hastily asked if he could spend time with his wonderful niece.
Bella was sceptical about Emmet's intentions because of the clear look of excitement on his face, but she ultimately agreed, as it would allow her and Edward to get the chance to have some alone time.
Meanwhile, Edward was using his gift to read his brother's mind, and was internally face palming himself due to his brother's idiocy. Even though Emmet's plan was just plain stupid, and would likely result in him getting decapitated, there was no way Edward was going to try and stop him.
Emmet's idea, was simply too amusing to prohibit.
So Edward gave his brother the go ahead with his wife, and Emmet left with the now physically 6 year old Renesmee.
Emmet had Renesmee on his shoulders as he slowly walked through the forest. While smirking to himself, he spoke up in a deceptively innocent tone.
"Have I ever told you the story of how Auntie Pearl discovered her absolute favourite food?" He asked.
Renesmee looked at her Uncle with curious child innocence in her eyes, and shook her head.
"I haven't?!" He dramatically shouted, causing Renesmee to giggle.
"Oh, well, we gotta fix that!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Now, she doesn't talk about it very often, but Auntie Pearl's favourite food in the whole wide world, is bugs!"
"Eww." Renesmee made a noise of disgust mixed with amusement.
"I know! Eww indeed!" Emmet laughed, then he continued.
"Of course, with me being the amazing big brother that I am, I ordered a bunch of different bugs and critters for you Aunt to try.
And she ate every single one of them!" He happily stated.
Conveniently leaving out the part where Pearl despised every second of the torture, and that she had no choice but to do as he said.
"Did she like them?" Renesmee curiously asked.
Lying between his teeth, Emmet responded. "Yep! But she doesn't talk about her love for eating bugs very much because she's a little embarrassed by it."
"Oh" Renesmee made a sound of acknowledgement as her child brain processed the information.
Emmet waited patiently for the hopefully inevitable result that would occur because of what he had said.
After a while, Renesmee asked with an innocent form of excitement. "Do you think Auntie Pearl would like it if I brought her a big bug to eat?"
In fake surprise and an overly happy tone, Emmet responded, "That's a wonderful idea Ness! Why didn't I think of that?!" He then playfully slapped himself in the face, causing Renesmee to laugh loudly at her Uncle's actions.
For the next 10 minutes, Emmet helped Renesmee find a massive bug to surprise Pearl with. Once they had located something suitable, they placed it in a cardboard box that Emmet conveniently had folded up in his pocket, to bring back to the main house where everyone else was.
Renesmee ran inside the main house while carrying the box. She was extremely giddy, and obviously excited. Finding Pearl in the living room with Bree, Jasper and Rosalie. Renesmee comes to a stop in front of the older hybrid and hid the box behind her back.
"Auntie Pearl! I've got a present for you!" Renesmee shouts in her childish excitement.
Turning her full attention to the kid, Pearl asks kindly, "You did? What is it?"
As Emmet silently lurked in the doorway watching the exchange, Jasper, Bree and Rosalie took notice of his presence, and grew slightly concerned at what's going on, as they saw the smirk that was plastered on his face.
Renesmee handed Pearl the box while smiling brightly. She then exclaimed in an elated tone, as Pearl opened the box to look inside. "I found your favourite snack!"
Pearl looked down at the contents in the box, and was shocked to see a giant centipede crawling around inside of the cardboard. The older hybrid stared at the creature in confusion, and wondered what was happening.
'Did she say favourite snack?! What the hell?! What's going on?!'
From the corner of her eye, Pearl spotted Emmet's figure lurking in the doorway of the living room, and caught sight of the shit eating grin on his face.
Realising exactly what he must have done, Pearl started to scream internally. 'ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!'
After all of the vampires figured out that Emmet was entirely responsible for this situation, they all had different reactions to it.
Bree had a mix of horror and amusement on her face, while Jasper was struggling to hold back his laughter.
Rosalie looked absolutely disgusted as she gazed at the critter, but she did try to hide her feelings from the hybrid child, who was still gazing up at Pearl with childlike innocence.
Meanwhile Pearl, was silently fuming at Emmet and loudly cussing him out in her head.
Attempting to get out of the situation, Pearl gently addressed the little hybrid. "Thank you Ren. This was very thoughtful of you. But unfortunately, I have already eaten, and I'm not that hungry at the moment."
Renesmee started to get upset, and Pearl immediately felt bad.
Letting down her mental mask that hides her mind, Pearl desperately started calling out to Edward to save her from this situation.
'Edward! Come and get your kid! I'm not eating a fucking centipede! I've done it once! Never again! This is your kid, so it's your fucking problem! Get the fuck over here!'
Unbeknownst to her, Edward and Bella were currently having private time in their cabin and were, very obviously, unable to hear her pleas.
Besides, Edward already knew of his brothers plan, and had made no move to stop it.
He wasn't going to help Pearl at all. He was far too focused on getting laid.
Emmet spoke up from the doorway, attempting to guilt trip the older hybrid. "Oh, come on Pearl. Ness went through a lot of trouble to find you a good snack. Surely you aren't going to dismiss all of her hard work?"
As Pearl's silent screams almost broke free from her lips, Ren's face caught her attention. The little hybrid was giving Pearl puppy dog eyes, and it looked like at any given moment she would burst into tears.
'FOR FUCKS SAKE!' She screeched internally.
Pearl gulped before picking up the centipede with her left hand. Reluctantly, she tossed the critter into her mouth in front of them, and did her absolute best to smile at Renesmee whilst she did so.
Pearl chewed the creature, and a loud crunch echoed through the room. She managed to swallow it down rather quickly, but trying to keep all of the disgust she currently felt, off of her face for the kid to see, was incredibly difficult.
As Pearl ate the centipede she got varying reactions from her family members.
Renesmee was beaming at her happily, looking very proud of herself.
Rosalie looked like she would throw up if she could.
Jasper was silently snickering at Pearl's predicament, as he could feel all of the emotions that she was desperately trying to mask.
Bree's facial expression was a mix of utter disgust, mild amusement, and unfathomable pity.
Emmet meanwhile, was just trying to stop himself from laughing out loud as to not tip off Renesmee.
But it was very clear to the older hybrid and the other vampires that Emmet was thoroughly enjoying himself.
Taking a brief moment to compose herself once she was finished, Pearl then spoke to Renesmee in a kind tone, that completely masked her current fury.
"Thank you Ren. It was really sweet of you to bring me a present.
Now, why don't you go with your Auntie Rose and Aunt Bree for a bit?
I've got some very important business to attend to. "
Renesmee smiled wildly at Pearl and hugged her quickly, before leaving the room with Rosalie and Bree.
As soon as the three girls were out of sight, Emmet burst into a fit of intense laughter. Pearl turned to him with a deadly look in her eyes.
Jasper stood on the sidelines to watch the confrontation that was about to unfold.
Later that night, when the entire coven gathered for 'dinner' at the main house, Emmet entered the room with dyed sparkly pink hair, and a sentence written with permanent marker was displayed on his forehead for the entire coven to see.
Following behind Emmet, was a very satisfied Pearl, who had pink glitter all over her hands.
Emmet sat down at the table silently, making no complaints about his punishment. As this punishment was the compromise. The one that Jasper had managed to convince Pearl to do instead.
Pearl's original idea for Emmet's punishment, involved a sort of experiment.
She wanted to find out what would happen if she ripped both of his arms and legs off, and tried to reattach them in the wrong places.
Like attaching both of his legs to his arm sockets, and putting his arms where his legs should have been.
Would it have worked? And would he be permanently walking on his hands for eternity if it did?
How would he write? Would he flip himself upside down in order to walk?
The possibilities were endless, but Jasper wouldn't allow the hybrid to go through with it. So Pearl had to settle on graffitiing her older brother instead.
It was safe to say that Emmet had no intention of rocking the boat and potentially convincing Pearl to go against Jasper, and proceed with her original idea of a punishment.
Upon seeing what was on Emmet's face, Bella quickly drew Renesmee's attention away from her uncle, as she didn't want her daughter's innocence to be corrupted.
Of course she was unaware that she was too late for that, since Pearl hadn't actually told her about what Ren had said on their way to the Amusement park, on the day out with the shifters.
Everyone else in the family stared at the graffitied vampire with a mix of shock and amusement.
Esme quietly scolded Pearl for her use of language, but Pearl argued that it didn't count since she used a star instead of the letter 'I'.
