Page 79 of Corrupted Pleasure
I smothered a sigh. The man was an Irish devil, a handsome one at that. It was pointless to deny it and him. Iwassoaked and he still had my panties from our first endeavor. I happened to love my undergarments and didn’t have money to spend on new ones. Well, except the million I stole from him, but it felt wrong to spend that money on panties and other frivolous things.
“How are your exams coming along?” he drawled. Something about the way he asked had my instincts flaring, but his face didn’t portray any smugness. So I attributed it to my paranoia.
“Good. Studying for my finals is taking up all of my time.”
His beautiful lips curved into a smile. Like he knew something I didn’t.
“I bet,” he said.
I’ve become a criminal and a liar. Career goals piling up. How lovely!
“Yeah, it’s been stressful.” Theoretically not a lie. It has been super stressful planning our heist. For the past twenty-four hours, the girls and I have been on pins and needles, expecting the police to show up at our dorm door. Or the fucking Kingpins. I wouldn’t recommend looking them up. Paranoia hits tenfold.
“But now it’s over,” he concluded.
“What do you mean?” I breathed.
“You’re all done with tests, Davina. You’ve been done with your last final for quite a few days now.” Shit, he knew. “Now, we’re going to discuss the terms of our arrangement and why you ignored my text.”
Silence stretched and I swallowed hard.
Everything spiraled out of control and it had happened so fast, I barely had time to breathe. I had a boyfriend, caught him cheating before I had fully moved in, accidentally burned a house down, planned and failed at a heist, planned and succeeded at another heist, and now, here I was in this penthouse with this gorgeous man that had my insides quivering with need. The heaviness between my legs was becoming a familiar feeling around this man.
“Did you always want to go to Yale?” Liam’s question caught me by surprise. I fully expected him to grill me about not answering that message.
“Yes. My grandfather went to Yale, before joining the military.” Thinking about Grandpa always made me smile. “He said those were some of the best years of his life. He met Grandma at Yale too. So when it came time to decide where to go, it was a no brainer.”
“Have the last four years been the best years of your life?” he asked.
I chuckled. “Yes, for the most part.”
“What parts didn't you like?” Liam seemed genuinely interested.
“Umm, I- “ Truthfully, Garrett was the only part of my four years at Yale that I didn’t like. If I hadn’t bothered wasting time with him, we wouldn’t have ventured into our criminal endeavor. Yet somehow it felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. Maybe I was officially a criminal.
“Just say it, Davina,” he encouraged.
“My ex-boyfriend,” I started and Liam growled. Actually growled. “He turned out to be an ass, and I’m not too happy that I wasted my time on him.”
“What did he do?” he inquired, looking like he was ready to go into attack mode. Something about it made my heart palpitate. In a good way.
“Ah, he cheated.” I shrugged. “I guess he was being a boy.”
“He was a dumbass,” Liam drawled. “His loss is my gain.”
My cheeks heated up. Fuck, he could be so hot and sweet.
“What about you?” I stirred the conversation away from me.
He ran a hand across his mouth, as if he debated what he should tell me.
“Well, I don’t see a point in cheating,” he drawled. I believed him. “It’s too messy.”
Isn’t that the truth?Just look at the mess my friends and I have gotten into it.
“You don’t have to worry about me cheating on you, Davina,” he said. “You are more than enough for me. The way you pant for my cock. The way your greedy pussy clenches around my dick. It’s heaven. Nothing will tear me away from you. Not heaven, not hell. And certainly not another woman.”
For some reason, his words pleased me. A lot. His arm brushed against mine and his body heat overwhelmed me. And his scent. Deep and masculine. It made my head dizzy and my skin buzzed like a live wire.
